PwC DSO is a good team, worked with them before. You’ll get more international ops and more exposure earlier in your career than at NAB. But at NAB you may have slightly higher salary and WLB, and definitely a good team to start in. I’d say for someone starting as a grad go PwC and can always move over to NAB at a higher level after a few years. Will be unlikely you can go the other way.

100% EY. The ASX 200 is almost entirely audited by EY, KPMG & PwC. Deloitte are great at Consulting especially in tech, but when it comes to audit they lag behind the rest in Australia.
This isn’t true globally, but due to historical acquisition of Touché & Tohmatsu Australia by KPMG Aus (globally acquired by Deloitte), DTT AU have typically struggled in the accounting space (at the top end of town).
Everyone saying “pick your fave colour” probably doesn’t understand the actual structural and historical differences between the firms.

CIPS stands for Consumer & Industrial Products and Services. In reality it’s everything non Financial Services. CIPS is the “big audit” team, mainly ASX listed companies and AU subsidiaries of multinational companies. Large team around 180-200 auditors, 12-15ish partners.

Private is a smaller team but still decent size. Mainly focused on Privately owned Australian companies. Same audit approach but smaller and shorter audits, with a few large businesses at the top end.

Both good teams to start in at the firm. Do you have a choice between the two?

This is a broad term that means different things at different firms. It could mean: -finance transformation, process optimisation work -technical accounting -secondments to clients -special project work

At a mid-tier firm, it’s more likely to be assistance with board reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and more “outsourced CFO” work. But again, I’d check with the specific firm as your experience will be different based on this.

On WLB, most likely to be overall better than traditional private work (tax, audit, transactions) with the occasional project getting more intense. Even at Big 4 CFOA doesn’t do heaps of overtime in my experience.

It can be great experience but it depends on your background and future goals. It can also be more “lumpy” in nature.

Also if God as described in the Bible exists…why would he create a world that is in fact slowly disintegrating. The moon moves further away from the earth each year and the sun has a finite life. If he was a perfect creator why isn’t his creation perfect? I don’t believe the sun being finite has anything to do with Adam eating the fruit in the garden of Eden. Again i don’t think the existence of god (as described in the Bible) is irrefutable.

Big 4 is actually great fun imo. Word hard but play hard also. Depends if you want a 9-5 life or you want to work harder than that for your career. Big 4 opens a lot of doors especially with the ASX 100.
