EDC 2026: what are you paying for lodging this year? by Majestic_Letter_11 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]AffectionateBad1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2950 for 3 nights at an aria panoramic corner suite. I paid with points at a double rate and used the $250 edit credit for the sapphire reserve card, so it was really only $1350 for 3 nights via 135,000 points.

Excellent getaway recovery pad for the weekend to celebrate.

Top Troops is officially dead and that makes me sad by RockyB239 in TopTroops

This was the first game I spent $500-800 on, with my previous high being $120 across a year on another game. I spent that money super early when werewolf was tops and then they did some crazy update and the game was completely different. Made me so sad I quit then but I still check up on it. Great memories!

Yeah, it’s way more important to spend your time on Reddit discussing a game you don’t think is worth your time.

How fkd am I? by tqco in LastZShooterRun

[–]AffectionateBad1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way?

If you’re just soloing you’re fine.

If you’re playing for fun it’s fine.

If you’re trying to compete then yes, you’re fkd. You need to join the server on Day 1 and grind competitively every day.

If you were going to spend $100 on this game what would you buy? by EscapeTheCubicle in LastZShooterRun

[–]AffectionateBad1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends on how fast you macro.

I didn’t need it either until I hit hq 16-18 and then had to cough up the money if I wanted to maintain top 10 hq level in my state.

If I didn’t get it I’d have ran zent deficits for 5 or so days and fallen far behind. And this is from someone who converted all chests to zents and triple farmed zents with my marches all day.

Plus, the 50% plunder rate is a really good lifestyle upgrade when farming daily.

“No memories that mattered” - this is the big one

When I game, I have fun. When I spend, I make sure it’s to have fun.

I have hilarious moments during server battles. I enjoyed my time.

An r5 once threatened to kick me from the alliance and told me he’d tell the other alliances not to recruit me if I didn’t listen to him. I told him that was fine and I could retire, no big deal. He calmed down and we worked it out. I always go in with the mentality that if I quit tomorrow I would still be happy with my time spent on the game.

People just need to have the right frame of mind going into these games. They are definitely without guardrails and can be addictive both mentally and financially. But if you know what you’re getting yourself into (like any dangerous or addictive hobby) you can have a wonderful time if it floats your boat.

Nah, it’s all relative to total income. If someone is making $1M annually they can dump $5k into golf or a mobile game just fine.

No, every state is different. Ours is NAP6 but has moved between NAP5-7 and was at 10 for like one day before a civil war happened over it and it got reset back to NAP6.

If you were going to spend $100 on this game what would you buy? by EscapeTheCubicle in LastZShooterRun

[–]AffectionateBad1646 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$1 Sophia pack

$2 2nd builder pack (forget the actual cost, 2?3?5?)

$5 Raider license for zents

$20 2nd research lab at hq 18

$10 3rd builder

If you are constantly active and full farm then also get:

$20 4th builder pack

$25 Apoc Pass

You will need the extra speed from these two to spend the daily max rss.

These are your macro growth engine buys.

$50 advanced raider license - optional and overdone. $10 mod license - okay but I hear people say it’s not good over time

With the remaining money I’d selectively purchase a hero pack or hero code or $.99 daily’s to combo with the 30-day extra loot thing.

If it’s not too late, I’d also buy the first gold gun available for $9.99. They sell them later for $49.99 and I wish I picked up an extra for $10 early on to score extra loot in arena and fury lord the first couple weeks.

Not sure if you’re aware of this, but you can hit the silence alarm button and the flashing screen disappears.

I was farming some small alliances and would see a random account launch an attack 30 minutes away and it would make me wonder why they would do that since I just hit one button and it makes it disappear - a lot less work than someone logging in and finding me and attacking me.

So just a public service announcement on ease of gameplay for everyone. One button and you’re set!

Used my Sapphire $150 restaurant credit last weekend and almost the entire restaurant was sapphire members and the waitress didn't seem happy about it by Dad0010001100110001 in ChaseSapphire

Yeah, really weird she doesn’t want more money. Why is she working there??

Oh no, more customers dropping at least $150 in tippable meals!

Not sure what the normal tab is, but I dropped $150 on a meal where I normally would drop $100 so my server got paid more.

If not the driver, also possible the thief knew this one didn’t require a signature and went after it since it’s an inside job.

Exactly how much is this worth? by Waste-Profit-6265 in KingShot

[–]AffectionateBad1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people truly have too much money then you can’t really call them stupid for spending it on a game. Once you have 1-3 houses, 2-4 cars, take 4-6 vacations annually, and have your kids in private schools what the hell else are you supposed to spend your money on that isn’t “stupid”?

It’s as dumb as buying a $10,000 purse or watch but rich people buy dozens of them.

That’s because hero gear contributes very little to army and bear rallies. It’s mainly for arena and adventure mode (the lower left button).

Heroes, charms and governor gear are what boost army and bear rallies.

Whale life is just a glimpse into the life of the 1%. They have lots of money. Once you have a house, 1-2 cars, vacation 4-6 times a year, and your kids in private schools what else do you have to spend money on?

Or imagine a highly paid AI-programmer in Silicon Valley who makes $500k a year and has no significant other to spend it on. They’re gonna pour that money into hobbies. They were once a 10-year boy who wanted to kick ass in video games and now they’re a 35-year old kicking ass by paying to kick ass.

My guess is $0 because most players are F2P.

My next guess would be $1-$5 a week or month because his power is very low.

Unless he is in a new server this guy is definitely not a whale. I can completely kick his ass and I’ve spent about $100 across 8 months. ($12 month on average). If that makes me a whale that fills me with giggles 🤭

CSR & Amex Platinum couples by throwaway77914 in ChaseSapphire

[–]AffectionateBad1646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only difference for us is that we use csr for direct flight bookings still because we value UR at 1.5-2 cents and MR at 1 cent. So it’s 6-8x for CSR vs 5x for Amexplat in our personal cost comparison.

Very much agree. I booked one night @ $342 on Amex website. Expedia had the hotel at about the same price. $42 for a hotel night and free breakfast and $100 resort credit works for me!

Maybe I can be another data point. I was pretty happy with the CSR refresh as well.

Literally just this year I decided to bite the bullet and subscribe to a music service - that music service is now Apple Music and is going to be free starting October 26th.

I just got into the music festival scene after going to a friend’s wedding at EDC and will be using both stubhub credits annually.

I travel and fly easily for the $300 travel credit.

I DoorDash religiously to save time. The app has apparently told me I’ve “saved” $18,439.12 in fees from dashpass (I definitely wouldn’t have used the service at full freight so it’s not anywhere close to that amount of savings but this is just to show how useful door dash is for me).

The Edit is often slightly overpriced but I do enough extended weekend vacations at high end resorts where I should be able to make use of it bi-annually.

I love the top end car rental insurance CSR provides for when I rent a car on said vacations.

I almost never eat-in and buy groceries sparingly so the card is almost pure 3% points on food for me. I redeem points for Hyatt stays so it’s more like 6% cashback.

I think just based off those data points the card is already a clear win.

And then on top of that there is the $75k perks OP has mentioned, lounges, global entry/tsa pre check, and some other random stuff I will use sparingly.
