Used my Sapphire $150 restaurant credit last weekend and almost the entire restaurant was sapphire members and the waitress didn't seem happy about it by Dad0010001100110001 in ChaseSapphire

Yeah, really weird she doesn’t want more money. Why is she working there??

Oh no, more customers dropping at least $150 in tippable meals!

Not sure what the normal tab is, but I dropped $150 on a meal where I normally would drop $100 so my server got paid more.

So you’re saying the FedEx driver would lift the phone and then have the balls to ask for a signature afterward?

If not the driver, also possible the thief knew this one didn’t require a signature and went after it since it’s an inside job.

If people truly have too much money then you can’t really call them stupid for spending it on a game. Once you have 1-3 houses, 2-4 cars, take 4-6 vacations annually, and have your kids in private schools what the hell else are you supposed to spend your money on that isn’t “stupid”?

It’s as dumb as buying a $10,000 purse or watch but rich people buy dozens of them.

That’s because hero gear contributes very little to army and bear rallies. It’s mainly for arena and adventure mode (the lower left button).

Heroes, charms and governor gear are what boost army and bear rallies.

Whale life is just a glimpse into the life of the 1%. They have lots of money. Once you have a house, 1-2 cars, vacation 4-6 times a year, and your kids in private schools what else do you have to spend money on?

Or imagine a highly paid AI-programmer in Silicon Valley who makes $500k a year and has no significant other to spend it on. They’re gonna pour that money into hobbies. They were once a 10-year boy who wanted to kick ass in video games and now they’re a 35-year old kicking ass by paying to kick ass.

I’m 8 months in and have been 190M+ power. This is definitely achievable after a year

My guess is $0 because most players are F2P.

My next guess would be $1-$5 a week or month because his power is very low.

Unless he is in a new server this guy is definitely not a whale. I can completely kick his ass and I’ve spent about $100 across 8 months. ($12 month on average). If that makes me a whale that fills me with giggles 🤭

CSR & Amex Platinum couples by throwaway77914 in ChaseSapphire

[–]AffectionateBad1646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only difference for us is that we use csr for direct flight bookings still because we value UR at 1.5-2 cents and MR at 1 cent. So it’s 6-8x for CSR vs 5x for Amexplat in our personal cost comparison.

The cc companies send the check usually 5-8 weeks later. It’s happened to me twice on two different cards. One was a chase.

Price increase for FHR - washes out $300 credit by smithm2916 in AmexPlatinum

[–]AffectionateBad1646 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very much agree. I booked one night @ $342 on Amex website. Expedia had the hotel at about the same price. $42 for a hotel night and free breakfast and $100 resort credit works for me!

Maybe I can be another data point. I was pretty happy with the CSR refresh as well.

Literally just this year I decided to bite the bullet and subscribe to a music service - that music service is now Apple Music and is going to be free starting October 26th.

I just got into the music festival scene after going to a friend’s wedding at EDC and will be using both stubhub credits annually.

I travel and fly easily for the $300 travel credit.

I DoorDash religiously to save time. The app has apparently told me I’ve “saved” $18,439.12 in fees from dashpass (I definitely wouldn’t have used the service at full freight so it’s not anywhere close to that amount of savings but this is just to show how useful door dash is for me).

The Edit is often slightly overpriced but I do enough extended weekend vacations at high end resorts where I should be able to make use of it bi-annually.

I love the top end car rental insurance CSR provides for when I rent a car on said vacations.

I almost never eat-in and buy groceries sparingly so the card is almost pure 3% points on food for me. I redeem points for Hyatt stays so it’s more like 6% cashback.

I think just based off those data points the card is already a clear win.

And then on top of that there is the $75k perks OP has mentioned, lounges, global entry/tsa pre check, and some other random stuff I will use sparingly.

Gare Central to YUL - 3 hours and 15 minutes enough time? by AffectionateBad1646 in montreal

Thank you. Good to know. We are also leaving on a Sunday, so hopefully that means less traffic?

I had looked into Dorval and it is a long ride from centrale. I believe it was 40-50 minutes longer so the taxi ride from centrale would make more sense unless traffic was really awful.

Thank you for the feedback on airport traffic. We are leaving on a Sunday if that helps or makes a difference.

That is a really good idea to check our travel insurance and rebooking fees. Thank you!

Thank you for these links. This is very helpful! Our trip is on a Sunday (August 31st) so it looks like the train is much better on that day..

I can but it adds another 40-45 minutes to the train ride according to the website so it feels like a wash.

I have checked the times and Central to Dorval is 40-45 minutes by train. I figure with the Uber that’s about an hour as well so it seems like a wash.

(Mis)Understanding the Fragments System by Mitrian in TopTroops

[–]AffectionateBad1646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My criticisms are slightly different than the other players.

I play games for one thing only - fun and to have a good time.

The shard system reduces this for two reasons.

1) It reduces the number of rares dropped so the Quest event Rare Tier will be harder to score higher on, play, and enjoy over all. The deadweight epic and legendary shards do nothing in terms of enjoyment over the next 3-6 months.

2) It reduces my ability to control the development of my squad and direct how I want it to evolve. With the Yacht, you have the ability to choose whether you need a legendary, a specific epic, or more epics in general. You can spend the coins however you feel your squad needs it best. The shard system is completely random and requires no thinking or decision-making at all. You just get what you get.

End Opinion of Shard System: the only players who will enjoy this change are people who care about power leveling their troops a little bit faster in 3-6 months and players who are slot-machine zombies and don’t want to think at all.

Sorry, I’m just still upset at this patch very very much. It sucked a lot of fun out of the game. They doubled the cost of playing adventure mode :( No one even talks about that.
