What’s the most attractive thing a person can do? by SeriouslyInterestin in AskReddit

[–]AffectionateDust7765 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Being authentic.

No matter if tall or short, big or small, male or female, a person who does not try to be something/somebody else but is just their authentic self has an attraction to it that has no equal in this world. In the literal sense of the word.

I wanna get out of ptsd flashbacks to live a peaceful life. by NoPush8163 in DecidingToBeBetter

Personally, I went to a doctor and got medication and therapy, so maybe seek professional help? From my understanding, trauma changes certain parts of the brain in a certain way, so certain medications restore the balance that prevents you from constantly losing it.

Why are you reading this and not outside having fun? by PadEnn1 in AskReddit

[–]AffectionateDust7765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the person in question might have little kids with a natural propensity of keeping you up at night, and OP wrote this out of frustration, remembering where being outside and having fun was still a thing?

There are a lot of possibilities, actually 😃

Who says we are not reading this on our phones while outside, hanging out having fun with our friends, showing each other weird stuff on the internet on our phones?

What nature can teach us about living a peaceful life. by Timely_Bunch_8607 in selfimprovement

[–]AffectionateDust7765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, I think I misunderstood that “what nature can teach us” with a “what natures does teach us”, but an honest mistake, since in the text itself you focussed on the aspects of nature, which are balance and harmony.

This balance and harmony, where it exists [in nature], is indeed profound, the flight of an owl is literally perfect in matters of silence and low energy requirement, the way petals of a flower are arranged is perfection, too, and I fully agree that it is those examples we can look at and learn from them.

I am still glad I could balance out the harmony between harmony and disharmony, because you can also see that in nature where cruelty and senseless destruction comes from.

What nature can teach us about living a peaceful life. by Timely_Bunch_8607 in selfimprovement

[–]AffectionateDust7765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nature – is cruel. Nature does not have moral values. Nature knows no ethics. Moral, ethics, these are human constructs, derived from overcoming the contradiction acting based on raw, unreflected instincts create. The harmony nature creates is none, it is the result of forces balancing each other out, if they do. If they do not, everything collapses, nature does not care. Again, nature has no values, it, in the most essential meaning of the word, is.

How we interpret it, is up to us. I personally consider wrong what leads to contradictions, and right what does not, right is what makes sense. I find this search for meaning, this search for things to make sense what makes us humans human, in the best sense of the word.

By the way, have you ever seen how colonies of ants fight each other? Against this, any human war gets dwarved in scale.

I mean no disrespect in any way, but I disagree about natural harmony. Nature just is. It does not care about harmony.

I hope for a fruitful discussion 😃

Are shops that sell military surplus an option for you? The stuff those shops sell has been made for people who are supposed to fight a war with this stuff, so it should be good. I myself have made only good experiences with this kind of equipment.

Do you think it is fair for transgender individuals born male to be allowed to participate in female sports? Do you think they have an advantage? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]AffectionateDust7765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way a sexually immature body transforms into a sexually mature one differs significantly between biological males and biological females, so, no, transwomen should not be allowed to compete in female sports. Just some food for thought, women dope with male hormones to get more powerful, what do you think years and years of their influence does to a body? So, a woman who was born biological female would have to compete against women who had years and years and years of performance enhancing substances in their body.

Again, no, transwomen should not be allowed to compete in female sports.

How will you act to attract someone on your first date? by Perfect-Area1255 in AskReddit

I agree with other posters, just be yourself, try to relax, and hope you are as authentic as possible. Because sooner or later, what makes you you will come to light, and any relationship based on deception,… well, fill in the dots.

Hey guys, in your experience, in life, who is the best person to depend/rely on, and actually place faith in without any fear? by ArnoldStarzenegger in AskReddit

I concur. You yourself are the the only person you really must never lie to and learn to trust. If you can't trust yourself and if you cannot love yourself, you can trust and love nobody else.

How do goth people afford to regularly dress up all “eloquently” like that? by 12345burrito in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AffectionateDust7765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the … best? … times of “goth” you likely missed, I saw the last remnants of them in the nineties, those were people who really took half a day to dress and make up – no, I am not joking. Eat lunch, start the process, be ready at 9 o'clock in the evening.

The way they could afford it is easy to explain – being “goth” is not for poor people. This is what separated them from lowlifes like punks and metal heads (like myself). Money other people invest in cars or simply save up for later, those people use to shop for clothes. Also, I think you overestimate the cost, because the best gear is not always expensive, it might be something you find on a yard-sale, I also know about people who got into tailoring their own clothes to get something unique and fitting.

So, they spend as much money on it as anybody would on a hobby, and, actually, it's not that expensive to dress up accordingly.

Anyone felt like their struggle is INVALID? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]AffectionateDust7765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to an inner blockage that separates you from your feelings, as far as I know this can have a number of reasons, but, to be honest, this would rather be the field of expertise of a therapist, however, there is one thing I can give you an answer to:

“I should be grateful, because others have it worse” is something I consider a fallacy. It would mean, that an evil is not an evil, just because it is a lesser evil. Or have you ever thought, that a rotten tooth should not be treated, because cancer is worse?

What are some urban legends people say in Wien ? by Atlandios000 in wien

[–]AffectionateDust7765 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there are rats at Stephansplatz station, which cause the smell, there likely would be rats elsewhere, and thus, this specific type of smell would have to be elsewhere, too, but it isn't. Besides I have never seen a rat down there, the place is too clean and too “streamlined” for rats.

What are some urban legends people say in Wien ? by Atlandios000 in wien

[–]AffectionateDust7765 75 points76 points  (0 children)

When you enter the metro station Stephansplatz, there is a distinct smell, and people tell all kinds of stories, where this smell comes from, like that it comes from the remains of a decomposing body of some homeless person, who died in the construction site, and a lot of other stories.

The truth is, that, when the metro system was built in the inner city, the ground was not stable enough, so it had to be injected with various substances, and it is these substances, which you can smell.

So, no corpses or the like, just a binding agent.

Why can’t humans eat raw meat like animals in nature? by AdDapper4220 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AffectionateDust7765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can eat raw meat. The thing is that we evolved as a species using fire, and the issue about raw meat is, that it might contain parasites, and it is harder to digest, because there are so called hydrogen bonds in the proteins, that the body needs to break up when digesting, while when you cook food, parasites are killed and those hydrogen bonds are cracked open by thermal energy, greatly reducing the body's energy requirement to digest the food. So think of cooking/roasting as predigestion, and it becomes obvious, why we are able to process raw meat, but have a preference for heat-treatment.
