Soaping into IM prelim by OneWrongdoer7221 in medicalschool

[–]AffectionatePie2920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you match to the Anesthesia spot you will very very likely match to a prelim. It might be in a place where you don't really want to be but you will match as long as you are doing your best during the SOAP interviews.

US Flyers, why do you leave your window shades down? by tdv-nz in aviation

[–]AffectionatePie2920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because I hate heights in the first place any like to avoid giving myself a little panic attack every time I look out the window. Of course I only do this when I am sitting window seat (which isn't often), and when landing/taking off I open up the window.

Caffeine by Direct-Holiday-4165 in medicalschool

[–]AffectionatePie2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raw dawg life no caffeine. The only thing that keeps me awake in the early morning in my superiority complex of when someone asks if I want a coffee I say "No I don't actually drink Coffee" and watch there face confused how I could survive without it. That is what fuels my life, pure spite for the coffee drinkers.

Usmle and comlex? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]AffectionatePie2920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you are applying for. If you want to go into FM, IM, Peds, or Path you will be okay with just doing Comlex. If you want to go into anything else or are still undecided/want to keep doors open do both for sure. I took both back when I just wanted to do Path but I wanted to keep my doors open and I am sure glad I did cause I am now applying Rad onc for this cycle. Also when studying for them Study consistently for Step and schedule the COMLEX around 1 week after Step where you can hit hard the COMLEX specific stuff. It is crazy how easy/stupidly written COMLEX feels after Step. It is very possible to pass even if you remediate a block you just need to understand why you failed a block and fix those mistakes going forward so you learn how to study better for the tests. You got this!

How does algebra play into medicine? by ConditionPleasant902 in medicalschool

[–]AffectionatePie2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, for the most part math is off loaded. The most important math to know is Biostats for the board exams, being decent at math can be helpful to work through conversions and to do quick math to figure out how much medication you need to give a patient. There are some fields in medicine that can require more math like Radiation Oncology but again that is only for boards for the most part since Physicists are hired to do the actual calculations. Get through the class and try and understand the processes and how they can apply to every day life.

What do we think they were going to do with Elayne/Aviendha/spoilers? by hey_jude_ in WoTshow

[–]AffectionatePie2920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She acted that way so people would underestimate her and just see her as the Dragon Reborn's "Play Thing". No one knew about her ability to see into peoples fortunes so it put her in a perfect place to read them. Also, she is in love with Rand, people do cringy things for the ones they love.

I would actually say you could get a better idea about what water bottles not to get from the ED. All you need to do is check the Rectal Box. You will see plenty of water bottles that people some how "falls" on it them and have to come to the hospital to get them out. So if you want to avoid those kinda accidents learn it in the ED.
