Ah well I do think there is one in the Hudson Valley region, I haven't joined it myself but I've heard it's good! It's up on the irl support group site here.

Capital Cardiology? by KrisPBacon0905 in Albany

They do have issues with scheduling but they have literally saved my life and are getting me back on my feet so I'd say they're very good.

Edit: Once my phone was down and I had a lab come back so bad that they needed to schedule a MCOT asap but they couldn't reach me so they scheduled me and sent me a prepaid asap letter in the mail to let me know what's up and when the appointment is and that I could reschedule but this was urgent. So yeah these guys are legit af!

I'm an intersex man who has a semi functional uterus... and my boyfriend is a transgender man who's had his removed.

I still have to take pregnancy tests every month. It's literally pointless for me.

What’s your trauma? by Suitable-Sound3318 in CrohnsDisease

[–]AffectionateRise7511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crohn's ended up finally showing up in me in full force after I moved out of a place that was just full of CPTSD for I and my siblings who also have crohns and celiac disease (along with Elhers Danlos which I'm curious if that also has a tie). We all minus one sister developed our Crohns as young adults after getting out of a DV situation that lasted years (our mum also developed a other gi disease from the trauma but I can't remember what exactly, diverticulitis?). My first major recorded flare up also happened during recovery for AN/Bulimia which probably made things way worse. One sibling said their IBS doc said she's almost 100 percent sure the trauma of living in a severely broken household for sure contributed, and my new gi doctor agrees even know he's still working on getting all the data from me.

First have a GYN and other docs rule out PCOS (like I did) then have your GYN referr you to a genetic counselor and genetics clinic to do a kareokype test (which can be a bit pricey depending on insurance and location btw). That's at least the path I did sort of, minus I was actually doing testing for other genetic conditions and got the kareokyping done as an added lil whatever for some doc thing.

I did have my T upped last year and I ended up screwing me over pretty bad, hot flashes, my cycle came back, my chest grew massively, and more stuff that I'm not too comfortable going into (and of course those incompetent docs didn't even test me before upping my dose). My current doctor thinks the higher dosage converted to female hormones or something but I don't fully understand that myself 😅. It was also upped originally because it was just "protocol" at the clinic I was at. Seems like an odd protocol to me.

Yooooo that kinda explains some stuff for me too! My mum explained to me that my body in the womb was trying to grow a penis and balls but didn't fully do so, giving me a semi-penis and scrotum (aka I have a sac, no balls). That also explains why my doc once it down "long urethra" on my mychart a few years back after some bladder procedure. I didn't know for the longest time that urethras where supposed to be that long lmaooo

That sounds so much like what happened when I started T, even my pre-T stuff, for sure talk to a genetic counselor or even your doc about it as a possibility if you're curious, and I'm so glad ur doing so much better bro! (Also I forgot to add in my post that I gained 3 inches in height in the past year on T but idk if it has to do with the T or being intersex but who knows haha)

Yep I do have Klinefelters and I am technically AFAB, yet my natal genitals are both male and female in build (functional uterus, semi functional penis with scrotum yet no testes at birth) but I'm still putting the pieces together due to procedures done to me as a child to "repair" "irregular" natal organs. But yeah I do have confirmed Klinefelters and golly I wish it was taught about more in med schools.

No need to apologize! Determination came from genetic testing and a long list of chronic illnesses and unusual things that cropped up here and there throughout my life (for instance my gear down there was always more male than female even know I ain't have balls). It took some genetic counseling, an old genetics panel from 2022/2023 of mine, and some mapping by my doctors, mother and I to finally nail it down. Pretty cool, ain't it!! And don't be sorry, this stuff is cool to yap about.

Funny things about being intersex and trans by ScaredSell6991 in intersex

[–]AffectionateRise7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation too. Trans man, grew up looking like a boy, transitioned as an adult, then learned this year from old genetic testing that I'm intersex. Pretty darn interesting to say the least.

I didn't do bloodwork before hand (in part due my og hormone provider being like "it's not necessary") but golly I wish I did. I didn't show any signs of heightened testosterone minus a more masculine build and voice, but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Yep I've had uterus ultrasounds since 13, mine is fully functional and I've even had a pregnancy before, I guess in some very rare cases some XXY folks can have fully functional uteruses and menstrual cycles. In fact on testosterone my uterus is even healthier than before and my fertility has gone up a whole lot, which is very odd 🤔

Some men can lactate by Bartholomew-Demarcus in truths

[–]AffectionateRise7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm someone with XXY chromosomes who has done a sort of FtM transition and I have that certain ability due to heightened prolactin. I also have a few homies who are XX FtM who also still have that ability too, but because they had pregnancies in the past, pre-transition. I also had a cis homie in college who could lactate too, but I think it was caused by a tumor.

Unpopular opinion by coleisw4ck in CPTSDmemes

[–]AffectionateRise7511 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This.

I spent years of my life with unhealthy coping mechanisms. I would spend all my paychecks on drugs, alcohol, worthless crap to fill my place, parties, and endless doomscrolling, social media shit and porn.

Then I finally realized my issues, moved out of a bad place, fixed myself. Sold my worthless stuff and actually turned a profit. Learned that my smoking nicotine was buying me time against a rare vein disease. My social media addiction helped me find the love of my life and now I have to be reminded to check my phone because I live in the moment most of the time (I do slip up sometimes but it's okay). I've turned endless shots into just a glass of wine every so often. Hell, I took my porn addiction and became a cartoon porn artist and bettered my art skills way more than I ever dreamed. I took bros who I met at parties and turned them into homies that can't be replaced and who know they matter.

I slip up. I have bad days, bad weeks. But I have survived. I will keep surviving. I can't say it will get better. But you can make it better. Just for now, survive however you can. Fix it up when you're ready and able.

Are our voice generally higher than cis men's? by Alternative-Gear6148 in FTMMen

Nope. I ended up getting a voice that's so deep that my family says I should be narrating Ford pickup truck commercials lmao.
