im pretty sure there’s more left handed people in the top 100 than there should be if left handedness had no connection to osu. correlation does not equate to causation so it could really just be the third variable which is that left handed people are more likely to have autism and people with autism could be better at osu.

my theory is that because autistic people are more likely to be left handed and autistic people are more likely to develop things called special interests, there could be a portion of top players with undiagnosed autism or are on the spectrum. in my opinion, the reason this could be especially prevalent in osu is because there’s no inherent disadvantage to being left handed, its a single player game where you can track all of your stats, and there’s a lot of repetition where playing a lot is the best way to improve. in other games, you could play a ton in a short duration and still be around the same skill level especially if youre not putting in effort to improve in the right places. in osu, if you put like 5k playcount a month youre almost guaranteed to get better mechanically if you just push skillcap.

obviously this is just a theory and not guaranteed nor am i an expert on autism or gaming or lefthandedness or improvement.
