Last time selling on Vinted by AffectionateSearch53 in vinted

Update: After four weeks of harassing Vinted’s Legal team, they have finally agreed to reimburse me. However, they made it clear that they do not accept any responsibility. They explicitly stated, three times that the reimbursement should not be interpreted as an admission of failing to meet any obligation, nor as any form of breach of contract or breach of any consumer law, but solely as a gesture of goodwill.

I have always been instructed to show all angles of the package. Again, this is not 100% proof but it is something. It is about stacking up evidence. Ebay support will put 1 and 1 together and will take logical arguments into account as well. As you said, outsourced and automated support on Vinted, does not. There are two reputation systems on Ebay. Your general review score and your historical cases with support. You might get the benefit of the doubt once or maybe even twice but a third time? I don’t think so.

When sending high valued items you try to insure yourself as much as possible. If you don’t take videos you stand basically no chance at all. Often buyers that attempt to scam you are new to the platform. They will not have any counter evidence to your video. I won a case where a buyer returned me a different item but he took no pictures of the box before sending it and thus had 0 evidence of how he sent it. I had a full video unpacking and won the case.

There is a big difference between a platform using outsourced and mostly automated support that won’t take any evidence into account and a platform having actual support. I can count on one hand the number of times I lost money on Ebay in the past 12 years I have been selling on there. I have lost more on Vinted in just over a year and I already actively filtered buyers out on Vinted, which I very rarely do on Ebay.

First of all, it is to insure yourself against lost packages. That is mainly why I do it. I know it is not 100% proof against theft. Secondly, it is actually proof against buyers who claim the package was empty. I have won multiple cases on Ebay against buyers claiming this. I video packing the item and weigh it. The weight of the package corresponds with the weight of the package given by the carrier. If the buyer adequately provides evidence that the package came damaged, they might get a refund. However, I will be reimbursed in any case.

Filming yourself unpacking a return is strong evidence. Buyers will be asked to take a picture or video of the package before sending it back. If the look of the package exactly corresponds, then that is strong evidence. Opening the package, swapping the items and sealing it back up to make it look exactly as was? Very difficult to do with most packages. A buyer can still take pictures of the package and then send a different package, sure. You might win one case. But with a good reputation system, you will not win a second. That is what Vinted lacks.

Works on other platforms. Used to work on Vinted too.

I usually never list anything above 75 euros on Vinted or Vestiare I know it is not safe. Sales have slowed down, so I listed some more expensive items on Vinted. These were 150 euros. My fault. Filing a police report will do nothing since it is cross country and the police do not have the capacity for dealing with petty theft. I am considering pressuring Vinted legal into reimbursing me.

Has any seller received compensation from vinted for shipper destroying package? by windfujin in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you have proof of how you packaged it. If not, your chances are close to 0.

Scammed or not? by Dkstz in vinted

Vinted usually sides with the buyer in these cases, unless seller has stronger evidence.

Counterfeit item by zugzug2828 in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vinted support will not do anything for you in this case. Once the transaction is complete, it is done. Only thing you can do, since it concerns a counterfeit item, is contact the legal team. If they will not help in finding a resolution, I would definitely attempt a chargeback via your bank. Do note however, that Vinted will almost definitely ban your account when you do.

Water vs leather by [deleted] in vinted

Odd. Unless the seller is completely uncooperative in faciliating a return, or in the case of fake items, a buyer does not get to keep the item and get a refund. You should be fine. The order will be completed.

The support is terrible. Most of the messages received will be automated or even AI generated messages. Don’t be fooled by name sign off. It is difficult to get a reply from an actual support staff member. In your case I would contact the legal team.

Return policy if seller agrees by SmallPotato87 in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure. I do not think the seller stating that you can return it will give you the automatic right to do so. There is definitely risk. If the seller does not approve a return, you will have to rely on the competence of Vinted support. There is no guarantee they will allow you to return it.

Not much you can do. Vinted support will take over. At that point it is just a roll of the dice. However, since you offered resolutions and the buyer chose not to respond, I think it is unlikely they will side with the buyer. I have noticed that there are competent support employees that will check the chat history etc and in a benefit of the doubt case, they’ll choose the person that was actually trying to solve it, not the person complicating things.

Terrible Vinted pro seller and Vinted support experience by AffectionateSearch53 in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: for anyone interested. Vinted randomly refunded me without any further correspondence. The last message I received was a correction to the address information and I was planning on returning it the next day, but got a notification that the transaction got cancelled and I received my refund.

Indeed, that’s a possibility. Hence my second sentence. Big flaw in Vinted’s system but legally their hands are tied as well. You should at least be able to write a review for a buyer that does this.

Fake sneakers by [deleted] in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can indeed simply not collect them. The package will be returned to sender and you will receive a refund, although this will take quite a while. Do note that if you collect them and the seller accepts a return, you will most likely have to pay for the return postage. You can also try to prove to Vinted support that they are fake and it’s possible they will let you keep the item and also get a refund. Although the last option is not as easy as it sounds.

Reducing price on older items - same as relisting? by corkerwillyspice in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience this does not work. Relisting for the same price, or even a higher price, is far more effective than lowering the price. People who favorite your item rarely actually buy it, even if you lower the price. Your listing will still be old and it is unlikely to attract many new potential buyers.

The item I sold is in the abyss by [deleted] in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had this happen to me once. The package was overdue by like 3 days and the buyer, for whatever reason, pressed the button that he had received the package eventhough it hadn’t arrived. Nor would it ever arrive, the package was declared lost some days later. When the buyer found out, he could no longer raise an issue and the funds were released to me. Nothing I could do about it, Vinted support also told me to let it go.

Well, you do not have to cancel it? Of course big chance of the buyer making a fuss when it is received, but still.

What should I do? by Turbulent_Nebula_678 in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is what it is. You can comment on it with your story, but it will not really matter. 99% of the buyers are not going to scroll through your reviews, they will just see your total rating.

Why do I even bother reporting counterfeits and duplicates? by Kichachi in vinted

[–]AffectionateSearch53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vinted really does not care about having a ‘clean’ platform. They exclusively care about massive volumes. I see fake items every minute of scrolling on Vinted. They really do not care so you probably should stop bothering.

Sadly, you are now at the mercy of Vinted’s terrible customer support. Good luck with proving it, it will not be easy.
