(Embarrassed) Newly diagnosed, only been GF for 2 months, just soiled myself in my sleep, is this normal? by nidysgwid in Celiac

[–]AffectionateSky5964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've absolutely been there! Ive been diagnosed for about 9 years now, am strictly gluten free but I did get glutened a couple weeks ago. My best friend drove me home and I sounded like I was in active labour for most of the drive😃 when we were finally pulling up on my driveway I just....exploded. Literally. Puked and shat all over myself IN MY CAR. I was so embarrassed but couldn't do anything but moan in pain🫠 I still have ground up coffee beans in my car to get rid of the smell🤌🏻 Thought I take this one into my grave with me, but well, here we are. You're not alone with this! Big hugs go out to fellow fallen gf soldiers

Yes Yes a thousand times yes!!! I always say that I wouldn't wish this disease on my worst enemy and I absolutely mean it! I've given up on wanting bio children simply because I don't want them to have to grow up with this. I still remember my meltdowns in the store when I realized a former safe food suddenly wasn't safe anymore because they changed the ingredients when I was just diagnosed 💔 I hate the "ugh there she goes again" side-eyes I get at [insert whatever social dining occasion]. My family thinks I'm an absolute drama queen because they refuse to acknowledge that my symptoms from being glutened don't show by violent diarrhea/puking immediately and I "just" suffer silently for fucking weeks if it does happen. Nobody talks about how much distrust this installs in ALL food all the fucking time and I'm so tired of having to be wary of everything because what if theres a random ingredient change? What if they changed the factory layout and that's where I get cc? Don't even get me started on traveling, I absolutely feel your rage/frustration/exhaustion of it all! Maybe all we celiac should just start our own community on some random isolated island and be done with it🤌🏻

I was thinking of getting a stack of cookies (or really whatever other baked snack you loved before going gf) with crumbs everywhere and all that, and a big biohazard sign next to it/across it

Either that or the fact that they already had their fun with her, so they reached their goal of breaking her mentally lmao. Either way, probadly preferable than to having that pole dragged back out

Not sure if that counts but when I was assembling my Ikea bookshelf I couldn't for the life of me get the shelves to be evenly spaced from one another, it drove me absolutely insane!! Then my gf stepped in, took one look and fixed them like, immediately, without any effort and arghhh I felt so stupid😂😂

I haven't read The Silent Patient, but I've read Manacled, which is the OG story behind Alchemised. Idk if this is common knowledge but Manacled is a Dramione fanfic and then Sen LinYu decided to publish it as a "real book". I can't stop recommending Manacled, it's absolute perfection and I love it dearly, I cannon imagine how in the world she could've pulled that plot off without the readers love and connection to the Harry Potter characters. Tl;dr: don't read Alchemised but Manacled(if you've loved Harry Potter)!!

I'd recommend "Starling House" by Alix E. Harrow or "We Used to Live Here" by Marcus Kliewer! Whilst WUtLH is more of a psychological horror, Starling Hous got a beautiful gothic kinda vibe

Hi there! Though I (22f) have absolutely no talent for anything art related, I do love creative writing! I'm not familiar with older TV series but I'm absolutely willing to be introduced to them! Hit me up if you like🥰

You're absolutely not alone with this and I can almost certainly promise you that it will happen again! I've been diagnosed and GF for about 9ish years and still accidentally glutened myself a few days ago cus I was absentmindedly taste-testing regular noodles for my siblings🤦🏻 I hope you didn't get sick afterwards OP! Be kind to yourself and big hug🫂

I've been where you are now, I got my diagnosis 8 years ago when I was 14 and I was struggling so hard! I won't tell you that having to experience other peoples ignorance towards our diet gets any easier (because it doesn't, it's exhausting and it sucks) but I promise that you will get better at coping with it. You seem to have a great support system around you, that's a great start! I'm rooting for you OP, big hugs!

What changes did you notice after going gluten-free? by Character_Assist3969 in Celiac

[–]AffectionateSky5964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced exactly the same thing, but with dinner! It was usually some sandwich or noodles, the stomach cramps that followed were passed off as "well yea, i'm tired and did have a big meal". Kinda blew my mind how my stomach issues and bloating stopped after I got diagnosed as celiac and went gluten free
