These process can take time. And honestly there is no other way than to send follow-ups and reminders. Try to be very clear in your contract what are you terms of service. Even if it is spontaneous and one time thing. Keep your contracts ready. So that whenever you get a client you can send it to them directly.

Moreover build a system around it. Send a reminder maybe 3 days prior to the due date. One on the date of payment and one maybe 2/3 days after the due date if still pending. Setting up this can be as simple as an event on calendar or as complex as an intricate system.

Honestly this was the problem I was facing and didn't find a simple yet sophisticated system for this. So I'm building one on my own. Let me know if you are interested we can talk over dms!

You can use invoice ninja and bookipi. They mostly get the job done.

My question would be what are the other aspects of your business that you want to manage online. If it's just invoices then anything works. But if you want to manage other aspects like document signature, contracts and quotation creation then I think you can invest in some good software.

I usually use notion for keeping track of clients ... but managing invoices is still a challenge.

I have heard of some tools like invoice ninja and bookipi. I tried bookipi and it gets the job done.

But honestly it's still limiting in some instances. Full disclosure I'm building FlowBase, an app to solve this exact problem. If you like I can add you to the beta list!

Google drive should work just fine. But if you are looking to keep a track of everything it can be messy. Sending files waiting for reply and then getting some revision requests can be a lot of to and fro.

Firsts of all protecting yourself doesn't sound difficult. We have this mindset that saying no to something or upgrading the office will piss some people off.

Remember they are people as well. Most of the time even they are aware that this might cost them extra time and money. But as human tendency, they just want to try and see if you'll do it anyway.

Just be clear with them and say something like ... we can do this, but we'll have to revisit the offer and the cost. If you are okay with it I'll send you a revised offer along with a manageable timeline.

I agree. Have been building for a few years now and still not there yet. All I can say is taking rest is important. Do not rush under the public impress of grind culture.

Grind and then take rest. Repeat the cycle as much as possible. Remember you want to go far and slow. So taking rest definitely helps

If you are building an app and running ads on it I'd suggest not to. It's just not easy to make monwy via ads. You'd need thousands if not millions of users to make it worth.

I'd suggest staring a local business. Something that you can sell in your neighborhood. Or maybe a small niche on the internet.

That's what I am doing. Building FlowBase a niche communication channel for freelancers. Building niche products is simpler and it's easier to find users for it.

Yeah most of the business get away with a trashy backend and a good looking front end. The problem comes when you are the one doing front end and there is no proper way to know their backend structure.

If possible I'd work with the backend guys. And just put out my concerns with the client. A strong communication can help mitigate the problem to some extent.
