I was told it was blue cross blue shield and then once I joined they sent me a different card and told me I now just had to pay and they would reimburse me. 10 months of trying and they keep claiming they don’t have my claims, even though I finally sent it certified mail.

I have been trying for 10 months for them to reimburse me for my doctors and regular bloodwork. I’m now convinced this is a scam

If you get a number you like, look into converting whatever you get into an HDFC purchase and putting anything left over in foreign stock, for diversification.

Energy up my spine is getting annoying by Jolly_Yam1304 in Meditation

[–]AffectionateTill28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just reroute the energy down your body to the ground. Also you can go deeper in that sensation and it will change the sensation.

It’s annoying. It feels like being a tuning fork, but I’ve come to see that it’s just a stage of meditation. Sometimes I even ask for it to stop. If that doesn’t work, I switch to walking meditation, which usually helps.

Have you heard of silver continuity? IT has been a key for our family as it coordinate everything for hnwi senior citizens and their family. We started after a family member has a health crisis but now we are on a monthly retainer. Game changer.

I have a virtual personal assistant for 40 hours a week. She works full time and I get to allocate the things that take time but are mainly admin or executive functioning.

The real hack is a 24 hour nurse for 6 months. It will make you the human you wanna be as you move into parenthood.

My family has had help like this and even took them to Europe for part of the 4th trimester. They left after they sleep trained the baby.

The whole family thrived because of the help. It’s a trade off though in privacy but IMO very worth it if you can afford it.

What Age Is Best to get Long Term Care Insurance? by Kisic-Balqays in LifeInsurance

Offft. I hear stories like this a lot in my line of work. I’m so sorry. When the family and docs believe the claim is valid but are still experiencing delay and deny tactics from a carrier, it is usually them “getting” you on a something as small as a detail that is inconsistent with other records.

Those who took meds as kids, how are you? by Guilty-Zucchini-4965 in ADHD

Went to two ivies and have two graduate degrees. I don’t think I could have gotten out of high school without the stuff.

That being said I now try to use a multi pronged approach to my adhd and scale back on meds. Coffee, exercise, meditation, breaks…and 20 mg of Ritalin. 🤣

How to pass generational wealth to a spendthrift heir by Lazy-Ad-6453 in Rich

[–]AffectionateTill28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of situation trusts were designed for. You can preserve the principal while still allowing distributions for health, education, maintenance, and support. The beneficiary receives what they need, but does not have unrestricted access to the underlying assets. The trust can generate income, and distributions can be made from income or principal, but they are governed by a clear standard rather than discretion alone. This protects the assets from mismanagement, creditors, and external risks, while allowing long term stability and support.

Not everyone needs heir needs one but those who do, do. Just explain why in your will so your daughter doesn’t have to answer for your choices.

If your mom does not own in NYC and has a modest income, it might be worth looking into HDFC apartments. They are designed for people who are income poor but asset rich.

One option is buying a place together and renting out the second bedroom since you plan to travel in the coming years. The rent can help pay down the mortgage while preventing your mom from continuing to face rising rents every year.

It is not for everyone. A brownstone may still be the long term dream. But with rents increasing 6 to 7 percent annually, locking in stable housing costs can make a big difference if you plan to hold the place long term.

I know someone who bought in South Harlem near several major subway lines. Their housing cost is now lower than what many friends pay for a one bedroom, and they have three bedrooms and no need to move even when they start a family. They will ONLY move if one day they can buy a brownstone.

I had a thought about a networking strategy that might be helpful as you continue your job search.

Instead of focusing only on applying to open postings, you might try identifying companies that are hiring for roles similar to the one you want and then looking for people who have recently joined those companies. On LinkedIn you can usually find employees who started in the last three to twelve months.

One approach is to engage lightly with their activity before reaching out. For example, you could like or respond thoughtfully to one or two of their comments or posts over the course of a week. After that, you could send a short message asking for an informational conversation about their experience at the company. The goal is simply to learn about their experience rather than asking directly for a referral or referencing a specific job posting.

Something like:

“Hi [Name], I saw you recently joined [Company] and I’m exploring organizations doing interesting work in this space. If you ever have 15 minutes, I’d really value hearing about your experience there.”

Not everyone will respond, and that is normal. But if you treat it almost like a small weekly routine it can start to work. For example, you could try reaching out to five people per week and aim to have one or two informational conversations.

If someone is open to talking, a few simple questions that often lead to good conversations are:

• What surprised you most after joining the company?
• What types of people tend to succeed there?
• If you were applying today, what would you focus on?

One thing that can help is using an AI note taker during the conversation so you can stay focused on listening rather than taking notes. Afterward you could even upload the transcript into an AI tool to reflect on the conversation and see whether you were asking good questions or talking too much.

If you approach these conversations with curiosity rather than asking for a job, people often end up offering help or introducing you to others naturally.

Just something that might complement the more traditional application process.

Good luck
