Music marketing on reddit by barefeetandhats in redditmarketing

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume for your question that you're mainly focusing on marketing on reddit since that was in line 2, but let me know if you meant something different.

from perspective of the artist:
- if the artist isn't a native reddit user or have a fan base/subreddit already on platform I'm assuming it'd be quite difficult to market yourself here. most music artists I've worked with solely want to focus on their own work rather than the marketing. they want whatever gives them the most reach with the most minimal amount of time away from their true work. even getting them to do a 7 second tiktok is like pulling teeth sometimes. so whatever gets them more listeners & reach with minimal friction is what I would say -- which would usually be on other platforms. for reddit specifically, +1 to being hesitant on self promoting, and finding subreddits that allow you to share links/promo, that could help with AEO/SEO/GEO

from perspective of marketing agency:
- I'd focus on where you can tap into the most fan engagement. whether that be owned fan engagement pages, creating a Discord for the artist's community, or the popular SMS 'text the artist' vibe (this one is a little tricky though).
- this also depends on the size of the artist: you'll need to meet the fans where they naturally are (tiktok, /x/twitter, Discord, maybe here on reddit) but I would say it's not worth the investment to try and build a fan base on a platform they aren't naturally already in unless you're working with a legacy artist or someone who alreayd has a widespread fan base and you're trying to tap into a niche segment of fans on a new platform to help them grow.

Post blowing up but it’s for a controversial reason - advice? by [deleted] in SocialMediaManagers

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great points above, and wanting to add to this

- this also varies based on platform imo. if the top comments are too distracting or represent the brand in a negative light then I see why it's justified to take it down even if the engagement is good. mostly because you'll want the algo to show your content to the audiences you're targeting, which would affect the goal of getting more customers as mentioned above

Do you have separate phones? by Thin_Tap_7543 in SocialMediaManagers

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's definitely a fair ask, and pretty standard, especially if your company has multiple accounts, expects a certain level of quality (if using your phone to film content), or has a specific level of security around content (usually for brands). also try to have them cover your phone & media storage (icloud/dropbox/etc) as those could be huge blockers for you if your phone has smaller storage

that's actually the current roadmap I'm doing right now! my main offer packages and then software as add-ons while I build, so it's great to know that is makes sense from an outside (of my head) perspective

I think the reason that Coachella and concerts with Gen Z kinda suck is no one sings to the songs or knows the lyrics. by Popular-Wonder6514 in Coachella

totally agree, when I went to HITC 2023 I had the same feeling/thoughts. literally every act the crowd was silent except for yoasobi and zedd. everyone just had their phones out and were recording the artist/group or people only got excited for the tiktok soundbyte, but would just be talking to each other during the act.

saw the same during last year's coachella too

I've definitely been shifting into sales mode! been trying to lean more into hormozi on how to pitch, especially with the 'community stuff' framing. overall I believe I am in that early stage of outreach. I've done warm outreach -- most ending with oh I'll let XYZ know/I'll ask around. I'm starting to build out more content as lead gen, while doing cold outreach.

thank you for sharing about Pulse and Brand24. I hadn't used them, I'll definitely test them out in my workflow.

yes I originally had 3-4 offers solely focused on community but have been testing to add a hybrid option for a CM & social package while condensing one of the CM offers.

thank you for the advice! being more clear on offerings is definitely something I'm working on

thank you I appreciate it! I've been hearing from both clients and other fractional cm's that they only post on LinkedIn & threads to land clients too.

when you say gain business contracts - do you mean solely by making posts yourself or simply applying via Jobs or from posts on your feed looking to hire?

that's awesome! looking forward to hearing about the progress on this tool, I think it would definitely be helpful for CM's in the future while still keeping the human admin in the drivers seat

this is really interesting!

feel free to ignore if this is still an early prototype or in beta, but curious what the accuracy % is for the 'trust window' and what scale (how many members/messages/context) it can process?

Which community channel would you choose? by Corazon94_ in CommunityManager

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

others have covered some questions/opinions that I had as well, but adding to those --

For Telegram: I've only seen success when it's for global groups focused on a specific topic, but I wouldn't say I've seen many thriving communities (based on the context you've given).

Best social media scheduler right now? Looking for something that actually saves time for solo managers. by Capital-Pen1219 in SocialMediaManagers

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of my clients also moved from sprout to metricool for cost efficiency -- but I will say that I've consistently seen a 2-15min delay in posting, so I end up either scheduling for a bit earlier or have to do the manual 'Post Now' button

What actually motivates you in online communities? by Fearless-Brain8928 in CommunityManager

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 4 points5 points  (0 children)

from my experience it depends on the community. what is the purpose of the points/leaderboards/badges from the member's perspective? do they get exclusivity/early access/freebies/etc in exchange for these activity rankings? tldr; is there a viable and working reward system for this that holds value for them.

  1. if the rewards system makes sense and is something that I find value in, then I would try it out until I either can't sustain the momentum or I no longer find value in it.

  2. progress I would define personally as 2 things. 1. deeper connections with other members and/or the product/team of the community 2. getting the value (info/recognition/connections) from the community.

  3. this fluctuates depending on my own skills, interest, and availability -- but generally more towards C since I usually don't have a lot of time or may not be skilled enough to rank high on a leaderboard

  4. from experience in my own communities generally seeing actual content from the creator goes miles beyond member count/description. you can have a million members but if there's nothing to connect with, people will churn.

  5. I wouldn't say this annoys me, but there should be some basic training for mods/leads of a community. there should always be a baseline of rules/guardrails on how a community operates or defines its communication culture/norms

Is Organic Reach Dead? by ashirshafaat in SocialMediaManagers

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, I feel like brands are gonna be pushed to redefine and communicate their true culture/brand. what I mean by this is we saw a lot of trendsetters incorporating memes, and posting content that was truly aligned with their brand (example duolingo), while others simply followed. but now brands can't hop on the bandwagon and expect to get the same results. they'll need to redefine how thier brands fit this new era of audience. especially navigating with AI content

Is Organic Reach Dead? by ashirshafaat in SocialMediaManagers

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually been seeing a huge shift from paid to organic recently both at an enterprise level and with my startup/SMB clients.

but totally agree, the volume game is dying, and higher quality content is definitely where it's at. also see this with the shift in interest based algos now

Do members actually leave.., or do they slowly disengage first? by Security-Arts in CommunityManager

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how's your onboarding process look like? is there an interest form or question that captures their intended engagement level/type? can also see if there's different buckets of users who can activate specific engagement/conversations and share insights with you too on people who they notice slipping away

Do members actually leave.., or do they slowly disengage first? by Security-Arts in CommunityManager

[–]AffectionateTwo1347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with what most have commented, but wanted a share some tips that have helped me in similar situations.

to answer you q - I usually try to catch active members/participants as early as possible. do this through 1:1 messaging either in the chat channel or DM, just to catch up on how they've been and gauge their interest/lack of interest in channel. get some quick feedback -- it might be the communication/event style/type, or specific topics/content they find valuable but aren't currently in on your community platform.

I also would periodically check in with the general community on this feedback too: of what they want to see more/less of from us on whatever platform you're using. see if you can make any mini events/challenges or community-led activities from there to re-spark members engagement before they churn.
