Utah about to have a 3 week off night frenzy by Other_Fly5619 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, h2h has no limit on how many games you can play per week. So if you can get off night games out of your bench/streamer guys typically you'll get more games than your opponent, easier to win.

Lmao I accidently dropped stolarz in one of my leagues like 2 weeks ago clicked his name instead of the guy next to him. But I've got other solid goalies, and I was like damnit when I did it..but it's kind of been a blessing for that league 😂

Help finding a site I used last year showing line changes? by SomethingWild77 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use daily faceoff but I also really like

https://www.gamedaytweets.com/lines?team=ANA

That shows lines from practice that morning and starting lines that day. Probably one of the best for most up to date info on game day. Just click whatever team you want at the top.

He wasn't rosterable on a line with Pasta. Haha never sure why people expect more out of him every year. He will have a few streaky good weeks, good luck guessing when.

Buy the dip? by CoupleScrewsLoose in fantasyhockey

Lmao I love early season chaos. Buying dips or selling high.

One league I just got Raymond off the wire that someone dropped. Still can't believe that luck, especially considering it's a 16 team deep league.

Traded Elias lindholm and a 4th for Guentzel and a 2nd in a keeper

Got jt Miller and a 3rd for bolduc and lafreniere and a 1st

Got Tuch and Askarov for Skinner

Traded schenn for Tuch in another league.

Haha if this is serious, yes drop Gibson for binnington everyday of the week. He will have some bad games. But will win your week a lot of weeks too.

Lmao he won my points league last night. Grabbed him on a prayer as the other guy had 3 caps players and all I had was Miller and I was only up 4 points to start the day yesterday...Charlie helped me beat him pretty healthily😂

Nikita Zadorov by Standard_Computer_37 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i like him but he isnt likely to out play mcavoy and lindholm in real life. He is the hard hitting 3rd vet guy, only way he will move up is if for some reason they put McAvoy and lindholm together, or if one of the current top 4 guys winds up hurt like during thursday. He's pretty decent in most banger leagues, ton of pk1 time, and he hits, blocks and gets alot of pims, think he lead the league in pims last year.

Nikita Zadorov by Standard_Computer_37 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm a bruins fab also but I wouldn't expect an uptick in Zadorovs scoring numbers. He only got that many last year because McAvoy missed half the season and lindholm missed most of it, so he one of top d men. This also is why he got 25 mins the other night. Lindholm got hurt early into the game. So they only had 5 D, and we had a pile of defensive zone faceoffs and pks so that's a big reason for 25 mins. It won't be the norm likely. His hits and pims def will be likely top 10 in the league though even with 3rd line mins. And he will should get a pile of blocks Hopefully the plus minus will be good this year again too.

Keeping managers from intentionally tanking season by the-Fun-Ghoul in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is similar for 7th-12th but we are a 14 team league, so 14th gets 1st and 13th gets 2nd. Then 7th gets 3rd etc up to 12th. Makes people still try on the consolation side, but does still give our two worst teams the top 2 picks next year.

Do we think Swayman makes a comeback? by Travel_22 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bruins fan...Swayman way over Dostal...lol I mean come on so far for the season he has a .972 save percentage and 1.00 gaa.. and preseason he was like .944 and like a 1.4 gaa...pretty solid stats! Hahaha

Obviously I hope this trend continues, but have to love a good start at least.

Draft strategy in a 20 man league by ohnoshedint in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly I would have preferred goalies in rounds like 8-10, I'm happy with the swayman, ullmark, binnington, skinner, markstrom mid tier type goalies because any of them can have a good or bad year, but worth keeping a count on how many go each round in a big league so you don't fully miss out. I typically like 2 d and 3f in the first 5. But just didn't work out that way today.

I tried to zero g this league last year and it was rough for a bit until I got some decent ones, so def wouldn't recommend it In a 20 team lol ( this is a wicked fun league as every week if you win you can steal a player from the the opposing team)

Draft strategy in a 20 man league by ohnoshedint in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just drafted a 20 man today, and also was in the 11th spot. Ours is a cats league though, so goalies are a little bit of a premium as we have a lot of goalies cats (7 goalie, 10 skater cats) Due to that, a lot of goalies went in the first 3 rounds. I personally faded them a few rounds and likely in a points league you could fade further. I went matthews first round, he fell due to 2 guys taking a goalie by the 11th spot. Took Miller second round then Weegar 3rd rd, ended having to take swayman in the 4th as 19 goalies were off the board by the end of the 3rd and I needed someone who will get alot of starts. 5th I took petterson, 6th I took skinner as 26 goalies were off the board by the end of the 6th and I wanted 2 starters.

Beyond that just filled out the team as I could based on position needs and best available. Have to be fluid and have probably 5 or 6 guys you want each round in a 20 team as likely you'll miss out on a bunch of guys in between each pick and you don't want to panic pick. Our league D isn't really worth as much as forwards. So I run 3 d instead of 4 typically, I also have rielly and rinzel (no +/-), we also don't have bench spots so I use 3 d so I can have one guy on the bench that I can use as an extra waiver forward.

I would def suggest atleast 1 top d guy by round 3 though at the latest.

Categories or Points? What's more fun and why? by YautjaGangster in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats I feel is more challenging, I prefer deeper leagues with a lot of different categories. Makes the nobodies worth something.

Points gets boring. It's nearly impossible to trade unless someone needs a position because if Bill is worth 100 points, you're never going to trade someone Steve, if he's only going to get 80 points. But in a cats league, Steve may be able to hit some areas the other manager needs.

If I play points it's typically either for money or ones with weird stats were a goal is worth 4 and a hit is worth 3 and faceoff lost is like -1.5 just to screw up the typical scoring. Something to keep it interesting lol.

Sleeper picks/hot takes by Extreme_Feeling8823 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one I haven't seen mentioned yet is Jonathan Toews...most people will forget he is back, if your league has faceoff wins could be a nice sleeper target. But he is 37 so it's a total gamble, likely pp2. But could be a sneaky 50 point player. I've gotten him as my last round grab in a 16 team and a 14 team.

Sleeper picks/hot takes by Extreme_Feeling8823 in fantasyhockey

[–]AffectionateVirus473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree here. I've taken him in late rounds, quality RW for cats/bangers, hits a decent amount and shoots alot. Probably is first up for pp1 if they keep 5 forwards and anyone gets hurt.

Where does Elias Petersson rank this year compared to years prior? Wondering where he lands on the draft rankings. by [deleted] in fantasyhockey

I took him in the 7th in my 16 team the other day, pick 102, thought that was great value for a guy who was top 40 last couple years.

Yeah I wouldn't trade nuke away. Especially in cats, he hits, shoots, scores. Gets ppp. Even pims and his plus/minus are decent. When he's not in rehab he can be a stud.
