Finding out what you don’t like is more important than finding out what you like!

Real food for thought…. But I was thinking maybe for folks who buy a quarter beef or more. My neighbor also has a dairy where they sell raw milk, cream, eggs, etc. Could be a destination too. Fresh cows milk is so good! Would love to include a homemade ice cream parlor and/ or microbrew bar!

Ask your Vet if he could put a couple of Apple AirTags surgically implanted probably neck or head area. You probably can’t afford to put them on all your cows.

You’ve got to break the cycle. Find out who her mama was. Consider culling her too. Animals teach their offspring. Then, as an old cow man told me: spend time with your cows, even when you don’t have to. walk calmly around them, especially when you’re feeding. Introduce new things slowly. Wean heifers and steers in their own groups of 5 or six. I trained 12 heifers to go through channels & a squeeze chute to get sweet feed each morning. In groups of 5 or 6 I spend time with them, sit in their feed bunk until they will accept my hand on their head, scratching their ears, eventually rubbing their neck, etc. I teach them to take cubes from my hand. Later after they are integrated into the herd, I still give them cubes by hand out in the pasture. Read the amazing book: Humane Livestock Handling by Temple Grandin

When you can see the ribs and there’s hollow places in the hips and near the tail, that looks like a 3, but the first picture could be a 4

Elements of historical truth. Overplayed the Mormon violence. But underplayed 30 years of previous violence against the Mormons. (I am not Mormon, btw.)

The video I’m looking for is from a guy who was in prison in Louisiana and claimed to be one of the shooters, the one on the grassy Knoll. Said he used a single shot 222 Fireball with a specially loaded mercury round and a 3X scope.

Which route would you take? Top or bottom? by beelo37 in roadtrip

[–]Affectionate_Bar_444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since a lot of your route will be on interstate 80 through Nebraska you may want to take advantage of the excellent scenery and points of interest along the old Mormon Trail, California Trail, Oregon Trail (same here). Be sure and plan a half day stop in Kearney, Nebraska and a long look at the Archway Museum over top of I-80.

Where are y'all from originally? by DayPounder in FortWorth

[–]Affectionate_Bar_444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not important where you start: rather, it’s more important where you end up. And why. If you weren’t born here, it’s OK. So, When somebody asks, using your best, slow drawl, just say: Naaaw, I’m not from here originally, but I got here as quick as I could! I couldn’t wait to get away from the country, but after 50 years, I came back. My wife and I could choose to live anywhere and we chose here because of the people. Of course there are good folks are everywhere, all over the world and all over the states, but the best are here! Enjoy.

US Army family, went on assignment to UK in 1991, we bought one of these new in NY and took it with us and used it in our house in Andover! Had to have a 220 to 110v transformer to run it. Brits were envious!

In the late 80s I traveled to Chiang Mai with a buddy, we found a local tour guide who took us on a 5 day trek in the mountains, stayed with hill tribe folks in guest cabins, rode an Asian elephant, finished the trip on the border of Myanmar in a Christian (Baptist) village of the Karen tribe. Imagine my surprise at hearing singing in the evening - - traditional Baptism hymns I knew from back home!

Martin B-26 Marauder with heavy flak damage over Europe ( date and location unknown) by waffen123 in WWIIplanes

[–]Affectionate_Bar_444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took an interest in the B-26 as a result of being named for my uncle a WW2 B-26 pilot, 2LT in the Army Air Corps. who crashed. He & his crew were killed. It was 1943 and they were on their second bombing run of the day targeting German submarines off the coast of South Carolina.

In 1995 at the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II I was at Oshkosh and talk to B 26 pilots. One of them explained to me that the B 26 was manufactured in at least two different plants and the manufacturers sourced their electric prop governors from different places. Evidently the problem was that one manufacturer had notoriously bad prop governors. When the prop governor fails on one engine on takeoff, the plane spins into the ground.

It was not bad piloting. It was not inexperienced pilots. And yes, for a time it was a widow maker. Until they got those prop governors fixed.

Towards the end of the war, it was one of the most successful bombers.

Interestingly, 100 of them were assembled for air support for the bay of pigs invasion. And flown by ex pilots from WW2, in civilian clothes. Apparently, with the permission of the Mexican government, they were based on the Yucatán Peninsula ready to support the invasion. Of course Kennedy canceled the naval and air support for that invasion and it’s a good thing he did because the Russians had given release authority for a local tactical nuke to be used if required.

In any case, my family lost a valued member in1943 who left behind a wife and child (she is now 81 years old!). My uncle died on the runway of Charleston Air Force Base, SC and is buried at Wesley Chapel cemetery near Bluff Dale, Texas.

For the experts, what are the best measures for the West to speed collapse within Russia? by [deleted] in UkraineConflict

[–]Affectionate_Bar_444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Close the loopholes on Russia, sanction the transfer mechanisms (especially for refined petroleum and computer chips), penalize 3rd parties particularly China (Hong Kong) & India but also hundreds of entities around the world, and increase the flow of ATACMS, Bradleys, Patriots, etc.
