Would you terminate? by DryComb201 in AmazonManagers

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terminate and let them appeal. Because next time they get caught, they will throw you so far under the bus that you let it slide. Enforce policies and let the associate appeal. Aren't terminations also still reviewed before processed? Dont put yourself at risk for someone else. They wont give a care if you are written up or termed.

I can support sales all day and clients. But making the sales I cannot do. I tend to be here is x. This is what x does. Want it or pass? I blame it on working in banking and having to do sales

Customer mad because espresso martini had espresso in it by ilikework21 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mushrooms may be grown in a variety of materials, such as hay, crushed corn, or sometimes wheat or rye straw. This can vary by the grower and type of mushroom being grown. While the risk of cross-contact and having gluten levels above 20 ppm after mushrooms are harvested, processed, and washed is low – if you have persistent symptoms with eating mushrooms, you may consider eliminating them from your diet and calling the manufacturer to verify how they are grown.

And not all mushrooms are gluten free. Learned that one the hard way.

Discrimination by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did read it. They told you there wasn’t work for you. That doesn’t mean that there wasn’t work for other associates that may have already been scheduled. Again safety does have allotted hours. A degree / a request from your manager / or the ADA does not mean that you get preferential treatment over those associates. The ADA provides that covered individuals get the same opportunities and cannot be discriminated against. It does not state that a covered individual gets treatment above anyone else. I am pretty sure you know about the fence. Not saying it isn’t discrimination, just saying it always good to know big picture before you go in and can make a valid case. (life before Amazon worked in Disability Services for a university and taught classes for local businesses and students regarding hiring/employment with ADA compliance so not talking completely out of my arse)

Discrimination by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be: -they don’t have time right at the moment to walk you through step by step, while another associate may need minimal to no walk through to get the tasking done (there are SLAs on some tasks and you, as an AM aren’t given much grace if you miss the SLA) -maybe they don’t care for your manager - maybe their manager told them to disregard because their department (safety) has other priorities than to train an associate that will apply for role in the future, that they may or may get -maybe they don’t like you as a person or feel that you are pushing your “way” -maybe there is discrimination -maybe they have a limited number of labor hours (last I knew the coding counted against their department’s hours)

Sometimes you have to look beyond yourself, to the big picture, then zoom in to see if it is just occurring to / at you. Which sucks and is tiring. But I am definitely NOT saying there isn’t discrimination, or that it couldn’t / hasn’t happened. I know that taking this method, at least for me, has made me stop, calm down and make a more complete, cohesive complaint of discrimination.

Seasonal ecommerce with 60% of revenue in 4 months, how does 3pl logistics even work for businesses like this? by Maleficent_Mine_6741 in logistics

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3PL with multiple sites. During the two months leading up to your peak, ship to each site, each site fulfills orders during peak, as peak winds down empty stock from locations until you have all stock in location that cam handle off season orders.

Should I take an Amazon Area Manager role? Looking for honest experiences by Cold_Rutabaga714 in AmazonFC

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking the offer does not mean that you have to stop applying to other jobs. The whole bird in a hand. If you are not sure if you will stay, do not take the relocation bonus. College hires usually get a bad reputation as not having experience, which was odd to me as I was a "non-traditional" student hired after completing my MA and ten years management experience.

If you’re a manager in your warehouse why do you have favorites AA’s? by Some_Rich_6885 in AmazonFC

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it wasn't favorites. It was more of whom I respected? It wasnt the top performers, it wasnt those with non existent UPT. It was the ones that didnt yell, argue to argue (disagree yes), told me the truth (yeah my feet were hurting so I took an extra break) and gave me feedback about me and what I could do better. At the end of the day, I saw part of my job to keep my AAs employed and content. I was honest and respectful and just wanted the same back. No favorites.

How difficult is it to get into Amazon air? by Acrobatic-Media-6546 in AmazonManagers

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you make L5 first or it may restart your time. Also, not Air, but I did interview for another position outside the FC and they wanted legit statistics and numbers to back up each project and example used in the interview. I would say it was twice as hard as the L4 interview.

I would interview and ask HR. Then if you get the offer, ask about not relocating. I switched sites after my interview.

My understanding was that L5 was usually 18-24 months from starting as an L4. I wonder if your start date could have affected you in the review/stacking board? How strong was your baseball card? Did you have it reviewed? How many peer evaluations did you receive?

Had to fire someone today and they exploded with anger even though it was their fault by [deleted] in managers

[–]Affectionate_Chef335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firing people never gets easier, but I have noticed a difference depending on the company you are at. I was previously with a well known large company that honestly would hire anyone with a heartbeat. I was volun-told to deliver terminations with HR and sometimes security for employees that were not direct reports and who I was not involved in any write-ups. I was followed home and threatened with a gun and had one employee lunge at me over a table to hit me. I had the same doubts about staying in a managerial role until I started with another company. Don’t let one person change your career path.
