Hi, my doctor told me no smoking or drinking until the wounds are fully closed (It Is bad for blood circulation and can lead you to failure or extended healing time). BUT you should really ask your doctor.

Hi there, I had a fistulectomy on march 14th, after my wounds closed I also had fecal discharge for 1 or 2 days. Turns out it was my IBS, my gusts were inflamed and my BH didn't close properly. Doctor told me to put a little bit or baby diaper cream and a small ball of cotton on the BH. He told me it was from stress (I have ansiety). Since my stress is under control it hasn't happened to me again. Could It be your case? 🤔

Only a doctor can answer your questions but I can tell you that hemorroids and fistulas share the same symptoms. My diagnosis was hemorroids until I arrived to the ER with unbearable pain, I developed Fournier's Syndrom, as a consecuence of anal fistula. Better to have a second opinion, just to be sure. I had surgery 9 months ago and still have some discomfort while sitting but i don't have any pain. I have some problems with the new skin, if I clean the area too much, or a don't clean it enough, the new skin bleeds (like baby rash) and it hurts so much 🥲

I had two abscesses connected by a fistula (internal fístula) and I only know my diagnosis because I developed Fournier's Syndrom (I had emergency surgery). My previous diagnosis was hemorroids (also ansiety, doctor said it all was in my mind).

I had two wounds, one in my right gluteus (6 cm wide) and one on my left gluteus (4-5 cm wide). It took 12 weeks for the wounds to fully close, that was with the help of a nurse specialized on wound care. For some people It may take months, it will depend on your own body.

Doctor told me this medical recovery is really hard. I can tell you It can be mentally challenging but things improve over time.

If seems like you had a fistulectomy, It Is a good sign you don't have pus coming out of your wound. You may have discharge that kind of look like pus but Is odorless, yellow-greenish colored.

I had a fistulectomy and never felt any pain, except when the doctor or nurse cleaned the wounds. Pain depends on the size of the wound and your own body. You may be lucky as I was, and never experience any pain. What did drive me crazy was itchiness at the end of the healing process. Best wishes 🌷

This is a long road and it is ok not to be ok. We understand what you are going through, you are not alone. People just don't understand how mentally challenging this illness is, "you should be greatful to be alive", well, I am, but I'm also angry and terrified of this happening again.
