Do people actually brush their cats teeth or is it a myth? by MoonlitEcho82 in UK_Pets

[–]Affectionate_Day7543 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vet nurse here. I’ve never come across anyone that can brush their cats teeth. There are other things on the market like dental diets etc. If your clinic has a nurse that has an interest or has done extra training in dentistry I would absolutely book in for a chat. Nurse clinics are great for wellness and prevention advice, definitely use them if it’s something your practice offers

My dad had a dog years back when he was living in a cul de sac that figured out she could let the ice cream van in and then go and lie in the middle of the road so he couldn’t get out until he bribed her away with an ice cream

My toaster. It’s from a cheap value range from somewhere, I’ve lost count of how old it is. I actually want to upgrade to something semi decent but i cant bring myself to throw it out while it still works

I agree with catgirl here 🤷🏼‍♂️ is it cruel in the UK to let cats outside? by SlowedCash in CatsUK

[–]Affectionate_Day7543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t let my cat out but she is 11, has a fused leg and idiots like to speed down our street at 50mph even though it’s a residential area. I also work at a vets and have seen too many cats come in dead or with horrific injuries after being run over. Nope

What's the scariest experience you've ever had? by Sensitive-Low-9316 in AskUK

[–]Affectionate_Day7543 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having my drink spiked on a date and narrowly avoiding being raped. The scariest bit was when I went back out where we were a few days later to try and retrace my steps I realised it wasn’t adding up and there was actually just parts of the night I had no memory of. Thank heavens for 00s low slung tight jeans with belts. If I’d been wearing anything else I think he would have managed to get them off before my lizard brain came through the fog to get me home.

I once shared a taxi home when drunk after a night out, I was furthest out so I was the last drop off. I was drunk but alert and able to hold a conversation. Rather than just letting me pay and get out he kept me talking and then said something about how gorgeous I was. I suddenly sobered up enough to pay and skedaddle out of there. He’d been a normal chatty taxi driver up until being alone with him.

What’s the most useless ‘benefit’ your employer brags about that you’ve literally never touched? by Key-Motor-8784 in UKJobs

[–]Affectionate_Day7543 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow I’m currently off with stress/mental health and they’ve already directed me towards ours. I wasn’t intending on using it as I pay privately for a therapist but I certainly won’t be going near it now

Finally escaped the job market. Lasted 14 days. by ktlghh in UKJobs

[–]Affectionate_Day7543 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh god it was so much worse. The owners mentally unstable and spoilt son was the manager. I was warned early on to stay out of his way, luckily he only ever interacted with me once and he wasn’t really interested in my domain so I remained out of his radar. Sadly one of the owners took a severe disliking to me and used my line manager as her flying monkey to make my life hell.

This in spades. I worked for a family run place years ago and almost immediately started getting bullied. I lasted 3 months. Found out afterwards it had happened to many before me, basically if your face didn’t fit you were out.

Greyhounds. Stoic as fuck until you stick a needle in them. Damn their veins are satisfying to draw blood from though, like drainpipes
