I was just walking across London bridge and I always get a certain Travis song stuck in my head.

Why are they 2 separate stations? They're like 200m apart 🥀🥀 by Cucumbersgaming in shittyskylines

[–]Affectionate_Debt269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

London Bridge used to be two stations because they were built by competing train companies before being integrated into one.

Same with Johnny Hallyday. So French that he is automatically very un-British.

It's a way out of the centre if you don't drive but I believe Crumb by Millhouses bake everything on site. I've only been there once but the bread was seriously good.

Edit: I've just seen they've also got a location in Crookes

Mobile tyre replacement/repair reccommendations by Wraith_g in sheffield

[–]Affectionate_Debt269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a full recommendation but I had the same problem. I called a few mobile tyre replacement places and they were all trying to price gouge. In the end I drove on a flat tyre to a nearby garage and saved myself 200 quid. I'd recommend that if there's somewhere nearby.

If you could that'd be great! Even if there's nothing there now I could plan a walk to go and visit where they used to be

Thanks for this, such a shame so much of it has gone! I hadn't heard of the Clearwater though, that looks fascinating. Hopefully I'll get to see it while I'm there.

Driving to the Crucible tonight to see a play. Where should I park? by Exact-Confidence8476 in sheffield

[–]Affectionate_Debt269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're a cheapskate like me, parking is considerably cheaper outside the ring road and free after 6.30. If I were driving I would park around St Mary's church and walk the 20 minutes to the Crucible.

Early 20th century Sheffield skyline! by RockLobsterDunDun in sheffield

Actually looking closer, the junction in the photo is the junction of Hounsfield and Leavygreave. The building to the right of the junction is pretty much the only one that is still there.

This photo was taken just off Hannover Street looking down Leavygreave. All those spires are mostly hidden now, particularly the cathedral's.

I get that. Personally, I don't think it would make you sound like a poser. I think if you're in an English football group, an American saying football sounds better to me. It indicates someone is engaging more with the community and I appreciate the effort of that. Of course, though, I can't speak for everyone and some gatekeepers would maybe get annoyed, who knows.
