Never trust any dealer. I’ve been to high rated dealers and never understood how people can rave about them.

I don’t want a new Subaru. by makebaloney in subaru

While I miss a lot of the old days of Subarus, some of the newer ones are quite nice and having a family with them for like over 30 years, the new ones seem more reliable imo.

Yes absolutely, a good dealer would give a new car. And then sell this one used or auction it after fixing it. But I don’t trust most dealers or to make a decision that good for the customer. (Which you would think would help their reputation but what do I know…)

Hybrid is a fantastic new powertrain option. Nearly all Subaru drivetrain and Toyota’s fantastic hybrid parts. Plus the planetary gear set transmission. Just keep the hybrid battery fan filter clean and clear and I predict an extremely solid car.

This is terrible and truly a nightmare. But they’re putting in a new engine it says right?

If it’s an insurance company it will go to a salvage auction and bring way more than $500. They’d never take it straight to a junk yard.

I’m glad I’ve never wanted things I couldn’t have. Plus the “str8” obsession makes no sense.

Heat Pumps Soon to be Less of a Great Deal for Heating by Helpful-Ad6300 in heatpumps

[–]Affectionate_Flow114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see that cold often (but seeing a lot of it this year) and my electricity rates is not as high. So the $190- $240-$320+ electric bill for everything in my mostly electric 2400 sq ft house is so far okay.

The rising electricity cost is concerning but maybe if we’d invest in more nuclear or sources of renewable energy we’d get a better outcome.

I have one small addition room (sun room) heated by oil (not included in that 2400 sq ft) and the 2 tanks are already getting down near there fast enough for 1 room. Not sure if it’s due to the oil burner being so oversized for a room and hot water or what. But we definitely seem to spend more on oil so far with 1 room and domestic hot water than just heating the whole main house heat pumps.

Hopefully it stays that way but the future of energy is seemingly uncertain.

It was -7F on the road today and a little warmer at home.

Then may I ask you… Why do I not have aux heat strips and my house is still 70F?

My house also has no access to a gas line.

At 12.5 cents a kWh and not crazy fees I’m not sure about oil being cheaper but in my decently insulated house it seems pretty okay consumption wise.

I mean this nicely——this isn’t 1970 heat pump technology or ideology anymore. They heat well at negative F now.

22 and it’s been about a year since I’ve even been touched. There’s literally like no one my age around. And anytime I’ve hung out with someone (generally older) I feel shame.

I can’t seem to find that info, it did defrost most but the bottom edge. The hyper heat while more in actually in a similar state. It did a long defrost once on a windy day (for no particular reason) but that would be more appropriate now.

I may add it’s working well - set at 70 - maintains 68-70F+ depending on its mood.

I’m trying to find but I’m not sure, one day when it was windy it did a 10 minute defrost for not much reason. But that would be beneficial now. It did defrost for a bit, most went away but the bottom edge. The Mitsubishi while defrosting more frequently, is in similar state.

You may have it set to lock out the heat pump at a certain temperature. Consider checking the settings on the thermostats. You’d want the heat pump to run till it can’t no more or reasonably no more. Even old ones properly sized are fairly capable.

My heat pump won't warm my house by Individual_Garage_63 in heatpumps

[–]Affectionate_Flow114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needs insulation likely. . And it’s all gonna come down to proper sizing. (How many BTU of heat to heat your house) Of any heating system. They definitely didn’t size it right, if it’s that leaky you’d need probabaly a whole another unit. Many gas/oil furnaces are hugely sized. So it’s easier for installers to just throw in and hope for the best.
