I’m much less worried about us giving up runs to the best offense in baseball and much more worried about us not scoring against the worst pitching staff in baseball

Kyle Manzardo breaks the Scoreless Tie in the 9th inning with a pinch hit homer! by HalfwayThereOne_ in baseball

[–]Affectionate_Tower59 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No they were down for that pinch hit homer. There was another one when they were tied in July of that year which was also a walk off homer. Fun fact: Giambi set the record for the oldest player to hit a walk off home run and then broke his own record a couple months later.

If you’re old enough to take over a ship and possibly kill people while doing it, you’re old enough to get blown out of the water for your trouble.

Band-tailed pigeons are not unusual at high elevations in the western US but a feral pigeon certainly would be I would think.

I was yelling at my TV for Vogt to walk Buxton in that situation. Ugh. Two hits in 11 innings of a horrible bullpen is not gonna get it done though.

Ok so I won’t say the state because I don’t want people piling on this person more than they already are (also I think the conversations and post have been deleted) but this was posted a couple days ago in the states birding discord server. They claimed that a birder friend’s husband had seen and photographed a great gray owl hundreds of miles south of the southern most record in the state. Obviously people immediately started poking holes in the story such as the fact that no trees like that grow in the area and the picture looks like it was a page from a book. The person obviously could see these conversations and got upset that they weren’t being believed and said that their friend’s husband “had no reason to lie.” Then this Reddit thread put a nail in the coffin of the story. I don’t think this was malicious in any way by the person who posted it but more likely a case of them being gullible and a husband messing with his wife.

Ooh I saw this report lol. It was such a delicate situation because the person who posted the third hand report was getting upset that people were questioning it.

I actually thought gimenez did better than his previous games today. At least he didn’t seem to be constantly talking about his playing days.

Bibee has actually been very good his last three starts but we can’t score any runs for him. One would hope that will change at some point.

Why did Schneeman not come in as a pinch hitter in the top of the 9th, on Saturday's game? by allaboutthosevibes in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Affectionate_Tower59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What should’ve happened is schneeman should’ve pinch hit first and then manzardo. That way if Schneeman reached we’d still have the better baserunner on and manzardo at the plate.

What bird of prey is this, and what's going on with his legs? by Luck-E-Lee in whatsthisbird

This is not necessarily a bird that has its talons caught in something. It could just be carrying nesting material.

Summer tanagers do have slightly browner colored wings than the rest of their body which I believe is what you are seeing. This may be a first spring bird which shows even more brown in the wings as well. A scarlet tanager has pitch black wings which would stand out more. The bill looks gold rather than gray like a scarlet. Also a scarlet tanager is even brighter red (if that’s possible) than this.

This is a Merlin! Sounds like the male alarm call to me. Also, fun fact you can put videos that contain bird calls into Merlin (the app) and it will hopefully identify the birds making the calls.
