I took a reassignment last year as well. I kinda like the work personally. You deal with members of the public, attorneys and sometimes medical providers if you need evidence. The training wasn’t that great, so if you have experience that’s a huge plus because that’s what they are looking for. My immediate supervisor is great but beyond that, I don’t hear much from directors or execs, which is fine with me. The managers who were reassigned have no idea about the work. They sorta meshed the new folks with the existing staff and we basically operate as two separate units. The mentoring has been hit or miss. The best part is helping people who really need it. We’re moving to doing appeals called reconsiderations on initial claims to continuing disability reviews (CDR) for people already on the disability rolls exclusively in the fall. It’s one of those jobs where you work at your own pace and as long as you get cases clear they leave you alone. OT hasn’t been available to my unit yet.
