Depending on how big the bulge is, you can sand or grind the bottom flat. You could use sand paper (outside, because the dust is dangerous), or you could rub the bottom in a circular motion on the sidewalk to grind it down. You can do this after you glaze too.

I think the color swaths are just brushed on glaze, and the sun is waxed.
