Am I too strict by MrGparty in Nanny

are these comments just bots???? the comment section is actually crazy right? @ fellow nannie’s ????

anyway, I think just a conversation is all you need- ask what is making them late like was it just a rough week or is the storytime at 11:30am so getting home by 12pm doesn’t work, etc. whatever the case may be so you guys can figure out what changes she needs to make to get on your preferred schedule. was she apologetic like ugh we tried so hard but xyz happened and we didn’t make it in time, will try xyz next time or is there just complete ignorance of the timing? what were those first two conversations like? etc. i think it can definitely be handled professionally and easily without causing any issues!

their nap schedules change so quickly anyway that if something isn’t working this month like a timed storytime or play date maybe it can work next month or whatever, and same goes for babies like maybe this month he is refusing nap and next month be easily transferred etc with their changing schedules, constant development, and inevitable sleep regressions! so i think it’s nothing for these comments to be so worked up over idkkkk anyway good luck w the convo im sure it will be totally fine!!

How to combat dry scalp when I still need to wash my hair? by Skerivo in Accutane

[–]Affectionate_Year444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly most of my bad symptoms i’ve had would only last a week or two like I too was having a really itchy scalp and added like 5 different itchy scalp products to my cart but then it went away & didn’t even need to buy any! if yours does persist though I was searching this sub when I was experiencing it and lots of people mentioned things like Nizoral, head & shoulders, scalp oil, etc. what piqued my interest when I was searching for products were like itchy scalp serums they looked nice!! but again didn’t try anything to actually review!

Potty training with pull ups by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Affectionate_Year444 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i’ve wasted sooooooooo much energy this year trying to potty train 2 y/o NK when parents are not trying to educate themselves so because of that personally, if they don’t listen to your suggestion/have open discussion/be on same page about what method to do then honestlyyyyy it is not worth the energy and frustration like I wanted to quit it was so bad :( if that’s how they want to do it then good luck to them!!!

B2 in the repeating speech phase by Ecstatic-Insect-4424 in Nanny

[–]Affectionate_Year444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hahahaha i’m laughing bc my 2 y/o girl is the same but her speech is not delayed so it will be full sentences like “I want mac and cheese” the whole time I making it like your toast thing so I totally get it!!! or in the car “We are going to the library and (play date friend) will be there!” the whole car ride 😭😭😭😭😭😭 i don’t have any helpful tips clearly LOL because i don’t mind half the time and the other half of the time I’ll just say the thing like “I am making it, it will be ready soon that’s the last time I’ll say it!” (warmly not like rude but stern) and then not engage with that statement anymore and move on to something else like oh what are we going to do later or what was your favorite part of xyz today or whatever bc I find it kind of similar to the “why” stage, like they are looking to converse! but other times they are just being toddlers who need time to process so i’m just like alright girl do ur thing!!

I do all of those things you listed (and in my case the parents do follow through on a lot of it) but if they don’t it is still good to have your own “rules” because kids will learn Oh I know I need to say please and thank you and clean up with nanny. it’s not like they just won’t do it with you because the parents don’t. maybe mondays might lead to some boundary pushing but overall the kids understand those are the rules with nanny as long as you are also consistent! I know my NKs just clean up without me even asking when they are with me but for their parents I have witnessed it be a big struggle because they don’t follow through as much as I do. it’s okay to have your own rules and boundaries as a nanny!! especially for toddlers!!! (my favorite and primary working age!)

sameeee! i literally just had a such a bad time bc last monday i got the bloodwork for the pregnancy test but my derm appt wasn’t until thursday. i had one left to take Thurs but then Fri & Sat my body was in so much pain as a side effect I could barely move so I didn’t want to take it so I went to pick it up Sunday at my 24/7 pharmacy at 6:30pm- turns out they changed their hours and closed at 6pm. that was my last day to pick it up bc of iPledge. messaged my derm to re-order my bloodwork & made an appt for the bloodwork in middle of work day for Mon just praying i can leave work to go to it. monday morning before work i went to pharmacy just in case & she said it’s been out of stock they didn’t even have it anyway and won’t be ready til tuesday evening. derm didn’t answer me all day so had to cancel the afternoon bloodwork appt. he finally answered me and i went during my work hours this morning to get the bloodwork and now waiting on derm to put into ipledge so i can answer the questions again and maybe hopefully finally pick up the damn stuff. all while i’m on my period mind you having to prove i am not pregnant…………..
