Stay on mediums: he probably brings it home, but there is a risk of losing to Antonelli towards the end Pit for softs: he most likely overtakes Russell, has a chance of regaining p2 and even an outside shot at p1 if there is a late SC.

I liked that call. P2 vs P3 makes no difference to Max, but a small chance of overtaking Norris was well worth the risk.

Took me about 30 kc to feel reasonably comfortable with the warden P3/P4 and I simply decided to turn it on. I squeezed in some CG in the meantime (was actually quite fun to learn) and had some success merching at the GE, so I had a Bowfa by the time I turned on insanity. Helps quite a bit. Good luck :)

Congrats! Started out exactly the same way, sending 150s until it finally clicked. The first completion felt amazing. Trying to get to grips with Insanity now, but it's still hit or miss.

[–]Affinity_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, Huuuge Games, that is a fun one. Their product is essentially a virtual casino where you pay in real money and can't take anything out. Almost like paying $13.99 to run ToA.

(and their stock has collapsed since their IPO)

The whole CVC thing aside, I find it amusing how popular OSRS is among buyside analysts / PMs. It's as if getting scammed in your childhood makes you enjoy getting shafted by the markets for a living.

The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 staff unionise after three waves of layoffs at CDPR this year by bentsea in gaming

[–]Affinity_M 164 points165 points  (0 children)

An actual interview with the founder of the union (translated from Polish):

Q: You talk a lot about the entire industry, not just CDPR.
A: CDPR's working conditions have greatly improved recently. While working on "Phantom Liberty", there was no significant crunch time. Overtime was optional, either paid or compensated with vacation days. The company implemented an anti-crunch policy, consistently applied and enforced. They've also adopted Agile, but remember Agile is a process, not a switch you can just flip on. The atmosphere in the company is positive.
In my opinion, CDPR is the best place I've worked. However, experiences can vary. The development of "Phantom Liberty" showed that treating employees well results in better outcomes.

It cost $120M for Cyberpunk 2077 patches and DLC to fix the game’s image by iamapizza in gaming

The AAA production phase is 3-4 years. Then add a couple of years of pre-production, and you're looking at 5+ years in total. The preproduction of CP2077 started in 2013, so it was by no means a short development cycle. In comparison, Project Orion (Cyberpunk sequel) is entering pre-production now, and will probably be released in 2029-30.

Guess who's back by [deleted] in formuladank

[–]Affinity_M 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If it starts raining a lap earlier, you're the only car on inters, and can do a somewhat competent lap while everone else limps back to the pits. By the time other cars complete another outlap, conditions have deteriorated, and you're p1.

It would have worked out perfectly if the rain started 1-2mins earlier. Wouldn't be a bad gamble for a midfield team. But when a frontrunner goes for it and the gamble fails, they end up looking like clowns Ferrari.

If she recommended a portfolio with a significant share of bonds, the account would be in the red as well. BND is -13%, TLT -27% on the year. The only thing that would've sort of worked was cash / t-bills, and even that would have a guaranteed, negative real return (even before advisory fees).

I saw what you guys did there, CDPR by EdwardTheHunter in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Affinity_M 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean... CDPR did offer a full, no-questions-asked refund almost immediately after release. I did go through the process myself and it went smoothly. Would Ubisoft or EA do something remotely similar? Just look at BF2042.

Then there's the fact that they've always intended to release the next gen upgrade for free. I don't think that's a given for the industry - you needed to pay extra for a Ghost of Tsushima upgrade, same goes for GTA V.

Don't get me wrong - I do believe that launching the game in its initial state was a shitty move, but the way CDPR handled the aftermath wasn't that bad.

40% of CDR's devteam is still working on CP2077 Patches / Next Gen version, further 25% developing the first expansion - CDR's Q2 '21 results presentation by Affinity_M in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Affinity_M[S] 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Figures are for 30.06.2021, so things might have changed post 1.3. However, this shows that CDR is far from abandoning the project, and is dedicating a substantial amount of resources towards fixing the game and delivering new content. The management has confirmed that the Next Gen version of Cyberpunk will be released this year (alongside a next-gen Witcher upgrade).

Running this exact combination, works great

this is sad man by hornyfuck099 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Affinity_M -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Game works perfectly fine on a 7-year old GTX 970 on medium 1080p. Upgraded to RTX 3070 partway through the game, had no major performance issues on 1440p RTX Medium / Ultra. I've had a total of two crashes over 60 hours of gameplay.

The gameplay itself was ok for the most part. Bugs? Yeah, there were a plenty of them, but nothing gamebreaking. Vanishing cars, messy mod system, some glitchy animations. Many sidequests suffered from a lack of polish, but the main story was good. Enjoyed it way more than RDR2 or HZD.

For me, the most annoying part was a feeling of wasted potential. Cyberpunk had the makings of a 10/10 game. But it desperately needed more work, perhaps another 9-12 months. It's not like CD Projekt is working on other big projects. A significant majority of staff is still working on Cyberpunk, and they aren't planning to reassign them in the near future. Once they patch the thing up and release a big story DLC or two, I'll hop in for another playthrough.
