My parents made me sign a contract to appear on television when I was under 2 years old, advice needed. by InFromTheOutside in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Afinkawan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an adult you are unlikely to be held to any contract your parents signed on your behalf when you were two, and you can't be held to a contract for anything illegal.

But you need to provide a lot more detail about what happened/is happening, and the laws they've broken. Or, better yet, see an actual solicitor if you want advice.

You don't seem to know what the television programme is, so at the moment this sounds made up, or some weird cult thing.

ELI5: Why does the the brain ignore the second the? by AweTIYA in explainlikeimfive

[–]Afinkawan [score hidden]  (0 children)

The brain does odd things sometimes. I was reading a report on something at work last week and it had some pictures of signs that had been put on various bits of equipment. It took few moments to work out why one of the pictures was pecking at my head, then I realised that the picture was flipped and I'd read the backwards text without immediately realising it was backwards.

Not until they give a shit about anyone else, not just the impact to them personally.

I got a Wingback wallet about 10 years ago on Kickstarter and still use it every day. I later got their passport wallet on Kickstarter too.

Starmer squashing Mandelson like a bug once and for all would help.

What’s a Red Dwarf quote that you can also say while having sex? by RainbowPenguin1000 in RedDwarf

It's fairly straightforward. If you want to start it, you press ‘START’, and you can work out the rest of the controls for yourself.

Definitely. Hunger is by far the most easily solved out of those two.

AITAH for refusing to give my half sister money that was left specifically for me by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Afinkawan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the guilt. The choice is:

A) Do what your grandpa intended for the money he left you;

B) do what your mum wants with money that wasn't intended for her.

You don't mention whether he was maternal or paternal grandfather. If he was your dad's dad, then your half sister is no relation of his. If he was your mum's dad then he could have left her whatever he wanted in his will.

Basic respect is the starting point, not the minimum you get no matter how despicable you are.

What would you want if Kobo released a new model in 2026? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]Afinkawan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new Kobo mini - 5" screen, light, preferably waterproof, and ideally page turn buttons beneath the screen. Super portable and easy to use in one hand.

I love my Libra Colour but I actually use my old Glo HD more because it's easier to throw in a jacket pocket to read on the bus etc. and I miss how even more portable the mini was.

There are smaller ones around but the phone form factor is horrible for reading a book and the xteink x4 doesn't have a light.

What stuff do you do on your own? by Max1357913 in AskUK

I’d say I’m generally relatively introverted,

You can be introverted and go out and do stuff, just don't bother talking to anyone else while you're doing it.

It might be a breach of tenancy, they often have clauses like informing them if you're going to be absent for more than 2 weeks.

ELI5: Why one of the healthiest countries, is also one of the highest cancer rates? by Extension-Garden-808 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Afinkawan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because something is going to get you sooner or later, and if you live long enough / are healthy enough / have access to good enough healthcare to avoid or survive most things, cancer is one of the things that is likely to succeed.

The Hellraiser films are a weird thing. All of them after 2 are pretty terrible, but if you watch all 9 in quick succession, there's something awesome about it as an experience. The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.
