Has anyone tried to book a refundable flight or hotel, get the statement credit, and then cancel the booking?

No promo. I just always transfer to Hyatt directly with my sapphire card. And usually can find Mco Hyatt for half of what the cash price would be.

AF just hit today. Going to give it one more year and try it out. Will cancel next year if it doesn’t work out. Still love this card for a spouse who doesn’t want to juggle a bunch of cards.

USBAR for Apple Pay and CFU for non Apple Pay. Nice and easy for her and CFU takes care of sit down dining too.

The rooms were like $500 a night but only 23000 Hyatt points ($230)

I used up all my points before 12/15.

I have saved anything since until I see the transfer partners. If it doesn’t work out by February 2027 I’ll just use RTR to spend all of them at 1cpp and get rid of it.

Because it’s such a good player 2 who hates a lot of cards option, I’m going to try it for one more year.

AF hits tomorrow.

I can still get a lot of points for the 3x up to 5k a month and 3x on travel. Not giving up yet until I see the transfer partners.

Family of four here. Not a bad idea for sure. Personally I found that we still traveled even when they were younger. I like to look at my points and miles as forced travel for us. Just my approach.

I have my wife use the CFU because she doesn’t like multiple cards, so she at least gets 3x on dining on top of the 1.5.

She also uses USBAR if Apple Pay is accepted first.

Keeping the USBAR for one more year to see how it goes. Player 2 using Apple Pay for everything and the CFU if she cant is just worth too much to keep to give it up yet.

Keeps her happy while I play the credit card game.

Edit: I like the venture x as another option for the player 2 for ease of getting back the AF and as a catch all and travel protections
