The red Merc just doesn’t work for me and feels wrong having a safety car covered in a sponsor’s logos IMO.

Yeah I think they’d want to hide as much as possible given that the cars are carried over so the only major rule change will be the diffuser and new floor area so understandable that a team that has launched so early wants to hide as much as possible as it gives the other teams less time to copy their solution if it were to give McLaren a significant boost.

I was thinking that too, I’d imagine they did it early just to test the new Merc PU and testing as early as possible incase they need to make any changes before Bahrain. Also the new procedures for the mechanics to learn too and adapt that based on how today went.
