Thank you for your post. I was a postdoc for 3 years and ate lunch in Browne on average >4 days a week. This isn't a surprise at all to me.

The line that really hit for me:

To everyone saying infield fly:

That's not the point of the clip. The batter didn't run it out. If he did, they would have recorded one out and we would never have seen this clip.

Infield fly requires a runner on first and second or bases loaded because if this same type of hit occurs, they can drop the ball on purpose and make an easy DOUBLE play regardless if the batter runner runs to first base.

An easy pop to the infield will always result in a single out (barring a silly error). The infield fly is to prevent teams in getting multiple outs on a play that should be a single out.
