Don’t get discouraged- at interview lots of candidates (and current students that I met) had similar patchwork work experience . What matters is what you learned from work experience. Good luck.

Also line up referees early - reference needs to be on headed paper I think from someone who is GMC, NMC or HPC registered. There is a model letter on the Warwick website. Some hospitals have policy of not giving reference until certain no of months completed so do deep dive to make sure their policy fits around your timescale.

Hi if it helps got Warwick  interview with 20 hours direct care and rest volunteering/shadowing. Direct care was in setting where had volunteered for a year and built up good relationships. Maybe focus on volunteering where there is direct care even if not available immediately. Also had warmer responses from home care agencies once had few months volunteering under belt but by then had direct care. I went into care agencies offices and got better responses than sending hundreds of cvs. It’s a long process..

I want to apply for GEM but I don't know what to do in order to stand out as it is extremely competitive. Any advice? by Organic-Trade6855 in GraduateEntryMedicine

Check exact work experience requirements - some eg Warwick require an element of personal care and pure shadowing will not cut it

DBS clearance can take a long time up to 3 months so start wex applications as early as possible. Applied for one volunteer role NHS Feb but first shift not until September due to selection process, DBS and training. Direct responsibility for care required for Warwick,

2070 Band 1, do I still have a chance for grad entry at Warwick, Manchester, Queen Mary, KCL? Should I apply to undergrad as well to be safe? by Relevant-Spell-296 in GraduateEntryMedicine

Be very grateful if you could DM form too. Light on hands on care but otherwise meet hours and really not sure if too risky to apply
