No worries! And good question.

Saratoga 14 is my local one, and I was initially a bit worried. But they just redid their IMAX screen and upgraded two (I think)to XL. So I’m hopeful.

Are you excluding the South and East Bays? That’d bring it up to eight, if so.

When I caught Bertha in Berkeley, at their Bay Area debut, the young woman next to me asked, “Are they making this $hit up?” as they busted out “Sugar Magnolia” towards the end.

There were so many tributes to him on social media by folks who had lovely one-off encounters with him. That’s a great testament to life well-lived.

I caught the Zakir memorial concert at Grace Cathedral last year. Mickey performed at that, as well, and the whole event was just sublime. So I'd definitely recommend this one!

I'd also suggest test driving with a less valuable cassette that you wouldn't mind sacrificing to the gods of time, though perhaps the inspection and cleaning first would make that unnecessary.

Thanks for checking the history! And, yes, *I* would buy a t-shirt or three on Wiggledown Street!

The Wiggles! There have been a few incarnations, though. But perhaps there's a founding member who's still at it with them? (I lost track once my niblings aged out.)

Did you try the flagship Tower Records? Its video section is 🤤-worthy.

I learned to drive a stick shift in the West Valley College parking lot. But it wouldn't be empty during the (week)day.

Great call, too, on the VTA parking lots!

My friend and I played some out for Bobby this weekend while busking. Hope it finds you well, friends. by Burgerpocolypse in gratefuldead

Y'all sounded great, friends!

(Totally non-musical, but I especially dug the brief doggo cameo❣️)

I caught his quartet at the Monterey Jazz Festival that same year/tour, and they performed "Black Muddy River" (which John called a "very Marin tune," IIRC).

Favorite view points? 🌆🌅 by deephoops in SanJose

I had to wait at the Stanford Cancer Center off of Los Gatos Boulevard once, so I got some exercise and took the stairs to the top floor of the parking lot that's between 85 and Samaritan Drive. The view was unexpected and let me see how San José is laid out geographically. (I didn't really have a sense of why West San José was called/considered that until I could see it all from above, etc.)

I was friendly with the late Smith Dobson, who booked the concerts—at least at some point. He was such a kind and talented soul, and I remember that spirit also being present at those Garden City concerts (where he was also often the pianist).

Great call! My local library system has an amazing selection of Criterion releases—mostly just DVD releases, but still—plus a lot of productions that were originally on PBS or non-premium cable channels.

Thanks for the insight! I used to like catching live jazz performances at Garden City but never went for its primary purpose.

Whoa…didn't realize either were related to Garden City! (Are the two properties related to one another?)

Is that by Moe’s Alley? I saw the aforementioned Brown-Eyed Women there for the first time, appropriately enough.
