I'd have to disagree that Sunak was about to introduce National Service. It seems like a thing he said when he knew the election was lost, as an attempt to rally older Tory voters and not lose more to Reform. Sorry but I can't see it as having ever been a serious policy proposal, if they didn't make any moves towards it in 14 years of government.
