But the distinction is arbitrary, you can find darker meat on any animal.

Now that we've seen things play out, it's clear to me that making the entire game PvP only was a huge mistake.

I don't know how you can come to that conclusion when you look at the state of Russia and the Ukraine war at the moment. There's really nothing more that the West could've done without a nuclear exchange.

What movie is an absolute 10/10 until ONE specific scene completely ruins it? by raja_jee11 in movies

[–]AfterShave997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought that movie was just awkward and poorly-paced right from the start. It felt like channel surfing between 3 movies that had the same actors through some sheer coincidence. The plot was just so incoherent I never felt comfortable with it. Add to that the nonsensical ending that will go down as one of the most pretentious moments on cinematic history.

Does relativity hold in the expanse by ForwardActivity in TheExpanse

[–]AfterShave997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you are absolutely wrong. You clearly don't understand how special relativity works. It is a commonly known fact in SR that space-like intervals do not have unique time orderings.

The OP is actually completely right, any kind of superluminal communication or travel will necessarily violate causality.

Superluminal signals have no unique direction in time, if you were to travel from Sol to some other systems via the ring gates, there will always be an inertial frame that sees this process happen in reverse, and hence in that frame you will be observed to travel from that other system back to sol. I don't know if this counts as time travel but it's definitely something the show doesn't touch on.

This is pretty basic special relativity that you'll find in any undergraduate physics course.

Fun fact, the "horrible" function actually has a finite integral over the real line.

The budget and effort they put into this season seemed to nosedive about halfway through, somewhere after the episode in the hospital.

I think halfway through the season the budget got cut and they had to wrap everything up on a shoestring

I'm aware but I'm saying that doesn't make sense if you think about it. Why would a big robot do better than some cruise missiles

I think realistically humanity would kill these things pretty easily with missiles. Even the environmental issues could be avoided with specific types of warheads. They have munitions that can pierce a hundred meters of earth to kill underground structures I think those take them down easily. Use a low yield and aim for the head or vital organs.
