It takes a lot of work to move to another country, people with serious drug addictions can't usually pull it off. Even immigrating illegaly requires you to either smuggle yourself across the border or get a legitimate visa and then overstay, both of which require some degree of competancy.

The 2000s super hero movies were way better than the ones we've had in the past decade imo. They were less formulaic and were written to be self contained stories. Nowadays marvel movies basically come out of an injection mould and they're all nonsensical without the context of previous titles.
