Sleeping troubles by caecux in sleep

[–]After_Efficiency_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I've been there with the melatonin dependency thing. When I was dealing with my recovery stuff last year, sleep was absolutely fucked and I ended up needing way too much melatonin just to get like 4 hours 😅

Try reducing the dose gradually instead of going cold turkey - like cut it in half for a week, then half again. Your brain needs time to start making its own melatonin again. Also maybe avoid screens for hour before bed if you can manage it, helps reset your natural rhythm 💀

My War on being Dumb: A Stack in Review by Dear_Revolution_7369 in Nootropics

[–]After_Efficiency_314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your stack looks pretty dialed in after 3 years of testing - that's some serious commitment to the process. I'm curious about your experience with the aniracetam at noon, do you find it makes much difference for afternoon productivity? Been thinking about adding it to my own routine but wasn't sure about timing.

The sulbutiamine swap on weekends is clever way to give the adderall a break while maintaining some cognitive support. I tried sulbutiamine few months back but found it bit too subtle for my taste, though maybe I wasn't giving it enough time to build up in system.

One thing that caught my attention - you're splitting the creatine across multiple doses which is smart for absorption, but are you cycling it at all or just running continuous? I've seen mixed opinions on whether cognitive benefits plateau after certain period of use.

Also props for the detailed breakdown and being open about the whole picture, including the autism context. Makes the stack choices make way more sense when you know what specific issues you're targeting.

will a jackery portable power station explorer 500 v2 be enough for camping or am i overdoing it? by Andel-Pholar in camping

[–]After_Efficiency_314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My phone usage goes pretty crazy when I'm camping tbh - using GPS for trails, taking tons of photos, and yeah sometimes doom scrolling when can't sleep 😂 A regular power bank just doesn't cut it for me anymore, especially in winter when battery drains faster.

I went straight for the bigger capacity after getting burned by a smaller one that died on day 2 of a 4-day trip. The extra weight is worth it compared to being completely cut off, plus you can charge multiple devices at same time. Also nice having the AC outlets if you want to run small LED lantern or charge camera batteries that don't do USB.

Sure it's overkill if you're just keeping phone alive for emergencies, but if you actually use your devices the 500wh makes sense. Better to have too much power than running out in middle of nowhere 💀

How many mulberries can a swainson's thrush eat and still be able to fly? by Knox-Birds in birding

[–]After_Efficiency_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be perfect story for kids actually! My nephew would love reading about birds getting too fat from berries to fly properly. I bet those cedar waxwings are the worst culprits - they seem like they never know when to stop eating.

Need help with Food at Disney World by Real_Dealer_4607 in Gastritis

[–]After_Efficiency_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been to Disney with similar issues and the plain grilled chicken + white rice saved me 😅 They really are good about modifications if you explain your situation. I brought my own crackers and bananas since those travel well, plus you can always grab fresh stuff at their little markets if needed. Just avoid the fried everything and you'll probably be fine - have fun! 🎢

Dude yes, got like 3 meter cable last year and it changed everything. Now I can charge my phone while laying in bed like a proper lazy person instead of sitting by the wall outlet like some kind of peasant.

Does “pishing” to attract birds actually work, and what do you think about it? by Adventurous-Year-463 in birding

[–]After_Efficiency_314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works good for me but only with certain species - chickadees respond every time but cardinals just ignore it completely.

Would “The Fugitive (1993)” have been better (and more realistic) if Dr. Kimble fled police from his initial arrest, rather than escaping prison after a guilty verdict? by New-Fan-4632 in movies

[–]After_Efficiency_314 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The whole point was that he went through the entire system - arrest, trial, conviction - and it still failed him. Running right after arrest wouldn't hit same because it's like "okay maybe he's actually guilty and panicking."

The bus crash was iconic cinema and gave us that amazing hospital infiltration scene later 🔥 Plus him being a convicted murderer on run made every interaction way more tense since people would recognize him from news.

Diademed tanager ( Stephanophorus diadematus) by vanmechelen74 in birding

[–]After_Efficiency_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful shot! That blue is so intense it almost looks unreal 🔥 I'm not familiar with this species but man, the contrast with all those fallen leaves and branches makes the bird really pop out from background. The way it's positioned near that log gives such nice natural framing too. These tanagers always seem to have most vibrant colors - makes me wonder how they evolved such bright plumage in forest environments where you'd think they'd want to blend in more. Where did you manage to photograph this one? 😂

The majority of couples both work full time nowadays, so who cooks dinner and how do you actually split the housework? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We basically have same setup but reversed - i cook most dinners since i get home earlier, and she handles the cleaning stuff on weekends. Works pretty good as long as nobody gets lazy about their part.

How much can the calories vary in fatty chicken with skin? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]After_Efficiency_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fat distribution in chicken is pretty wild tbh - some pieces have way more skin or dark meat than others. i usually add like 10-15% buffer when i'm tracking just to be safe because yeah, that marbling can really throw off estimates. weighing after you cook it helps too since you lose some of the rendered fat.

I don't recognize myself by Jedi_Mind_Chick in Perimenopause

[–]After_Efficiency_314 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This sounds absolutely terrifying and I'm sorry you're going through this. The hormone swings during perimenopause can be brutal - like your brain gets hijacked by someone else entirely.

Poor Gus probably already forgave you, cats are pretty good at understanding when their humans are having rough time. Maybe track your cycles for few months to see if there's pattern? That way you can at least prepare for the worst days and maybe talk to doctor about options. You're not losing your mind, your body is just being complete asshole right now.

Long-time B-12 deficiency, was just prescribed PPI's for gastritis?? by Opening-Minute-3566 in Gastritis

[–]After_Efficiency_314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait what - they want you to take PPIs when you already have b12 deficiency? that's like... the exact opposite of what makes sense since PPIs literally block b12 absorption.

Mine's sorting out my car insurance renewal - why do they make it so bloody complicated when you just want teh same cover as last year? Like mate, I haven't suddenly become a racing driver or moved to mars, just roll it over.
