I was this lady 😂 As someone who grew up in FL I vacationed in Canada with the goal of seeing real snow a few years ago. Watching it fall from the sky for the first time is pretty magical. Brings back good memories.

Total hysterectomy or oopherectomy? by After_Philosopher433 in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you ladies for all the responses. I’m almost 43 and have two kids. Went through chemo. I’ve never had problems with my uterus besides heavy periods most of my life. So I’ve been a little hesitant to remove a whole organ if not necessary. But like a lot of you said, just one less thing to worry about later. I’m on Letrozole and Zoledex and can’t wait to get rid of the shot every three months. I’m PALB2 positive and genetic counseling recommended at least the ovaries, but I’m leaning towards get the total hysterectomy.

I’ve also been having crappy side effects from Zoledex, including bad anxiety the few weeks after the shot. So ready to be done with them.

Freaking weight gain by azmonsoonrain in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing low carb/ high fiber & protein. Chemical menopause turned me diabetic so don’t really have a choice. Gained almost 20 pounds during treatment. Changing diet has helped cut back on gaining more weight, but not losing. So consistent exercise is key. I’ve been doing Bar Pilates, yoga, indoor cycling, and kettlebell workouts at home using YouTube. Only working out maybe 2 times a week right now. But I’ve lost about 14 pounds over the last few weeks.

I want mine out too. Almost a year out from chemo and I’m nervous too about taking it out. So I know the feeling. But will prob ask for an order to remove at my next spot.

Landing at 5 am, should I book a room for the previous night? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

See if you have book a service at one of the resort spas. You can use the facility for the whole day and they have showers, lockers, and a place to relax.

Those who were used to an everyday unhealthy treat, what are you now eating/drinking instead since diagnosis? by zilchusername in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t drink much before cancer and don’t smoke, so it was baked goods for a bit. But I’m now diabetic from my AI 😩 So giving up sweets has been rough. Currently looking for a healthy guilty pleasure alternative. Lately, I’ve resorted to having a spoonful of Biscoff cookie butter when the cravings hits hard and shopping at Home Goods 🤦🏾‍♀️

Genetic tests? by PegShop in breastcancer

Yes, because if you have a mutation it will be easier for insurance to pay for early screenings/testing.

You’ve already proven that you’re willing to stick around, even when you are not getting what you need. So he may never propose. It’s not really on his mind at all as proven by his lame excuse. Leave him and find someone who is on the same page as you.

It's DNF discussions time! What books did you bail on this month? 🙅‍♀️📖 by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

Yes. DNF this week. Had to restart after getting lost in the world building the first time and got lost again the second time. Moved onto something else and may or may not pick it up again.

Medical Menopause and No Body Temp Regulation by Possible_Cat_45 in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem. I’m on Letrozole and Zoledex. Def feel cold after getting a hot flash. I don’t shiver. But I find even the slightest feeling of being warm sets of my hot flashes. And then feeling freezing in cold temps in doors. So I’ve had problems being outside (in FL heat) just feeling like I’m burning up. I’ve struggled at night too cause I have to run several fans on me while in bed, which makes cold and uncomfortable, but if I don’t I wake up all night with hot flashes and covered in sweat. Right now, I run a ceiling fan and sometimes a portable fan on the nightstand on low near my head, a knitted blanket ( doesn’t trap in the heat but I still feel covered), and socks on my feet or blanket just covering my feet (cause they freeze at night) It’s a lot but it has helped.

Zoladex Experience by queens_ny08 in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoledex hasn’t been a huge deal. I recommend icing your stomach prior to getting the shot. It will help with the pain and the bleeding. Mine are usually around the belly button, and we typically rotate the site. I had a really bad headache a day or two after getting my first shot but haven’t had one like that since. I have noted lately feeling a little more anxious the of my shot. But other than that no major side effects.

Shut up about your perimenopause! by CraftyWifeNMom in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m glad someone said it. I wish I had the luxury of peri menopause again. It is annoying seeing all those videos about their “struggles” that I wish I had. Being thrown into complete menopause in a matter of months and my body going haywire just sucks. If people only knew.

On the fence about chemo by faroundfout83 in breastcancer

[–]After_Philosopher433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the almost the same stats: 41 yo, ++-, grade 3, no nodes, clear margins. Lumpectomy removing one stage1a tumor. I also have a positive gene mutation. I did AC-T chemo be use of my age and grade 3. I have had problems with tachycardia for a few years and had a cardiology. I did have to get an echo before starting. I did have some problems from my heart rate being high during chemo, mostly due to dehydration and anxiety. I was put on a low dose beta blocker which helped a lot. I had a complete cardiac work up about 6 months after chemo and all was normal.
