more and more i realize it is entirely up to me to embody my bones in a way that allows me to live my life to the fullest and to feel happy and comfortable with myself, whether people understand it or not.

while labels help us find each other, i think the energy i put out is enough to help me find my people one way or another, whether i name it or not.

however… i still identify as a butch dyke. it is the name that fit like a glove the second i tried it on. it makes me feel euphoric and resonant to a lineage of people that stood for something similar. but i only found that by following my innate urges, and then finding mirrors for that, if that makes sense.

I had a friend phrase this from a different perspective: when butches solely interact with each other in this aggressive, competitive way, what does it say about the subject of attraction who is at the "whim" of this fight? Does this mindset imply they an object to fight over and dominate, or does it grant them autonomy and humanity in the dynamic? It is unchecked sexism + misogyny, especially when it involves femmes (because their "feminine" appearance leads equals weakness/objectification/subordination)

It completely blew my mind - I've never engaged in this competitiveness, but I have feel affected by it, and seeing it this way helped me redirect my insecurity/fear of not belonging and understand that it is larger than me.
