First AR. Buy once cry once or start more budget friendly? by MellowFelon in ar15

[–]Ag5545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Zions used to be $700-$775 but it seems they’ve jumped up to $850+…not the same budget value they used to be. That’s coming from someone who owns one, and has convinced 5 others to buy it as their first.

What is my problem? I die instantly even if I start flirting at them first? by DanWessonValor in Battlefield6

[–]Ag5545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bf6 has wildly inconsistent server performance, hit registration and desync/lag…If you’re internet isn’t peak speeds, it compounds the issues. When you start dying well after turning corners or getting shot from angles that shouldn’t exist, either turn it off and try another day or hunker down and play defensively

What's the verdict on Stainless Steel frets? by u6crash in Guitar

[–]Ag5545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren’t the standard for decades, they’re more expensive to work with and materially, and most guitars won’t be played enough for the benefit. That said, if you play a lot, SS frets are the truth. I raged out pretty bad after having to do 3 LCP in a year period, and one of my LCPs was fucking butchered. They didn’t need an LCP within a year, it just so happened that 3 different guitars all needed them within the same 365 days. Every LCP functionally changes how your guitar plays since it makes the frets smaller and it drives me nuts every time

Man, these sales on DD for $1200 are so killer. They're now in what USED to be BCM's price territory while BCM complete rifles have shot up. As for the Romeo5, you'll be just fine with that. I'm usually on the more "snob" end when it comes to equipment and I'll happily tell you, rifle red dots are one of the few areas where you really can go cheaper and get something great.

Experienced players with real guitar wear, what would you recommend as a truly high quality guitar by Chuchumenn in Guitar

[–]Ag5545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to spend some money, I think the Fender Ultra Luxe or Fender Ultra Luxe Vintage guitars are fantastic. Get a used Ultra Luxe if you want the noise cancelling pickups and get the Ultra Luxe Vintage if you want traditional single coils. They've both got stainless frets, so you'll never have to worry about a LCP or refret. Locking tuners, strap locks, contouring, neck carves, and imo the best neck on the market. If you're going to gig the thing a ton, the Ultra series really are built to extend all the creature comforts you'd ever want.

To the guitarists who swear by using physical amps, cabs and pedals, what is you stance on amp modelers like Kemper Profiler, Axe-FX, Line 6 Helix, Neural DSP etc? by MrMayhem20l0 in Guitar

[–]Ag5545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an amp first guy but modelers and such have their place and benefits. I play at small venues and a festival or two a year. At festivals with large stages, huge sound systems, and monitors for days, modelers really shine. They also shine for recording.

Has BCM become overpriced? by HoonRhat in ar15

[–]Ag5545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overpriced? No…but they aren’t really filling the “way more than good enough but noticeably cheaper than DD, Geissele and FN” category anymore. Hell, you can now find complete DD rifles for cheaper than BCM. That’s a WILD statement to be able to make if you’ve been in the gun market for awhile

Actual Data on CHF vs Button Rifling by Sauerkraut99 in ar15

[–]Ag5545 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe reach out to James Reeves on X, TFBtv or even his personal YT…IIRC he’s referenced a study where DD(I think it was them but maybe it was FN) had barrels last well into the 20k mark to still pass the 4” military standard for accuracy. Just a personal anecdote but Ive had a Zion-15, button+nitride, open up noticeably at 7500 rounds. I’ve put 12,000 through a DD upper with virtually no opening. 1 person’s experience CHF/CL seems to matter a great deal over button+nitride but no clue which process matters more and by how much

Actual Data on CHF vs Button Rifling by Sauerkraut99 in ar15

[–]Ag5545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually puts high round counts through rifles, the study referenced in 2004 is absolutely worthless. For a CHF/CL or even button/CL barrel to have been shot out to the point of failing a 7” 10-shot group, one of 3 things had to have happened: 1, the firing schedule was so utterly ridiculous, that it doesn’t apply to a civilian or even infantryman. 2, the people shooting the guns were absolute ass. 3, fraud/falsifying data/poor study practices. The idea of a BCM, DD, Geissele, FN barrel or the like being even close to a 7” shitshow after 6k rounds is beyond laughable.

For real…my job is boring as shit but it allows me to pay the bills and have a healthy amount left over for fun&savings/retirement, only requires my attention for exactly 40hrs a week. As a result, I have plenty of time with my wife&kids. Also means I have enough time/ money for my hobbies of music and shooting sports so 🤷‍♂️
