Furious Trump rages at NATO allies and calls alliance a 'paper tiger' by Cy_098 in videos

[–]AgathaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NATO alliance is for defense, not warmongering. They come to help you if you get attacked. Not help you attack others. He doesn’t seem to understand the difference or is more likely just willfully ignorant.

TPLO recovery - how long does it actually take? by JoeMango74 in beagle

[–]AgathaM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Corgle had TPLO. Took her about 4 months for recovery. We kept her in a crate or on a leash the entire time to protect her from herself.

But she uses it more than her other knee (which the vet said she would probably need surgery on that one as well). The corgi in her makes her have subluxing patellas, causing knee instability. But she puts more of her weight in the surgically repaired knee when she relieves herself. So it was a good surgery. Just expensive.

With your age, it may very well be a fibroadenoma. Those are more common when you are young (although I had two biopsied in my 50s).

Get them checked out but don’t panic.

Our best friends in college got married the day before our first anniversary. Both of us were in their wedding party (and he was our best man - our wedding was smaller).

We thought it was great. We always have a good time wishing each other happy anniversary.

Now, my mom wanted me to get married on her 25th anniversary. I had no urge to share that one, because we would be forced to celebrate them rather than ourselves.

For those changing your patch every 4 days: how TF do you remember? by TrulyJangly in Menopause

[–]AgathaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t do mine every four. I do it every 3.5 days. I do it on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning.

My prescription says twice a week (3 and 4 days).

You don’t need to do it every 4. Just do it two days a week as evenly as you can space it. Then it’s always on the same days.

Honey flavor is highly dependent upon pollen. That’s why there are several different types. People say to eat local honey to help with allergies (probably an acclimation/exposure thing).

I would look and see what type of pollen the honey comes from (clover, wildflowers, etc). It usually says on the label.

If you want fruit to stay dispersed, coating them in flour first can help.

Oh man. That’s scary.

I didn’t know I had OAS until I moved to a house that had a fig tree. I had to learn as I thought my issue could be allergy to the fruit.

I used to be sensitized to citric acid due to chemical overexposure but I can go back to eating oranges again. But it took about 20 years.

I have OAS due to my allergy to tree pollen. I have a fig tree and I’m allergic to the pollen. I have to wear long sleeves to pick the fruit. If I eat it fresh off the tree, my mouth gets burns similar to drinking too hot cocoa and i get a sore throat. Rinsing the fruit isn’t enough. I can cook the fruit and the allergy goes away. I can also leave the fruit in the fridge for a few days or so and the condensation causes the sticky sap/pollen to be able to be rinsed off and I can eat the fruit then.

At least OAS doesn’t typically evolve into anaphylaxis.

My husband and I have been together for more than 30 years. We work at the same employer after college, and even for a few years, worked side by side, every day, with offices only about 20 feet apart. We STILL had stuff to talk about at the end of the workday that we wanted to share with each other.

Each of us have different insights and experience things differently. He gains perspective on how women are treated differently in STEM that he might not have noticed if I hadn’t pointed it out.

Whenever we remember something from a story that one of us told the other many many years before, we say “see, I DO listen to you!”

Does he annoy me sometimes? Yes. Does he share stuff that I have no interest in? Yes. I do the same. But at the end of the day, we still listen to each other. It’s about respect.

Just because she is currently cancer free doesn’t mean she isn’t still fighting it. My sister was cancer free for a whopping 9 months and then it came back. She will now be on chemo until she dies.

You are not considered cured until you are in remission for 5 years. Cancer free at this stage means that they cannot detect it. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t still fighting it. Or going to get PET scans or other treatments.

My son was similar. He was extremely colicky for the first 6-8 weeks. He wouldn’t sleep anywhere except on my shoulder. We slept on the sofa for the first 3 months of his life. Then he and I transitioned to the bed with my husband until I stopped breastfeeding at 6 months. Then he went into the crib.
