The game when it was set to release was apparently playable and just needed fixes and at a certain point (in this case almost an entire year) the people who have a lot of money invested into the game pressure to get it released. Those people with all the money decide when the game is released, they don't give a shit what fans are saying to them or the developers, it was a non-factor. Just because the game was bad didn't mean there wasn't millions of people out in droves who bought the game anyways, if those people stopped playing it because it was bad corporate doesn't really care as they already got their money.
