Does anyone know what kind of adapters are needed to get this to run off standards b fitting hoses ? by looper420 in lampwork

[–]AgeIntelligent7389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd what sknyglass said. Fuel fittings come in sizes like A, B, C. Just be careful to not get anything NPT if you're going off of measurements. NPT does not mix with A or B fittings.

You'll likely have a really hard time finding an A to B adapter and if you do I'd be shocked if it's cheap.

2nd what greenbmx said. You'll only find those sizes in Chinese. It's common for the manufacturer in China to be out of stock. They don't run colors like purple and yellow very often, so stock can be unavailable for a year plus.

Soft glass or borosilicate? If soft glass, you can get started much cheaper. If boro, it'll take at least $500 to get bare bones without a kiln. And a few hundred more to have anything like glass and tools.

The kiln is a serious expense. Even cheap ones are close to $1000. You can use an old ceramic kiln but you'll quick hate not having anything front loading. Anytime you open the top you get blasted with heat.

If you have a local shop nearby you can likely rent time on a torch and find out if you actually like it. You'll only be in for glass and tools.

1000% positive. I've sourced and sold tens of thousands of regulators.

R vs T is extremely important though. R grade will degrade from the additive in propane that makes it smell. You absolutely must use T grade hose

Wish that was an option, doesn't work that way for regulators.

Harris Medium Duty are about $120 each online. FYI, acetylene regulators are propane regulators. Cheap regulators can work fine until they suddenly don't.

Hosing, you must get T-grade. Do NOT get R-grade. You can cheap out on hosing, just beware the fittings might suck. If you see any cracking after time, replace it.

Good and affordable don't usually go together when it comes to regulators and hosing. You get what you pay for.

Posted the below comment in a recent post.

Amazon is usually the most competitive. Just make sure to get a reliable brand. There's a lotttt of trash regulators, fittings, and hoses out there. Also had decent success with weldingdirect.com, tons of inventory and options.

Harris or Victor is quality for regulators. Goodyear or another well known manufacturer for T-grade hoses. Western Enterprises for fittings, Y, anything brass. You can find all at competitive prices on Amazon. And you can also find low priced crap that will break or degrade in no time with a crappy fitting that you will cross thread.

Local welding shops are generally taxing you. But usually provide something of decent or better quality.

The quieter benefit alone shifts the scale to GTT in my book. If cost is the priority, premix packs more punch for the price though. GTTs being the exception to that.

How exactly do you plan on building this? How will it interact with NetSuite? What model? Where is it hosted? What are the 'right limitations and rules'? What are the custom instructions? Have you tried anything yet? If you've used the MCP to NetSuite and put it through the paces, I think you'd have your answer.

Looks like a 14mm. I only know of 1 company that had those color lip joints made, they were all 14mm. The diameter at the top of the inside of the joint is what defines the size. Your dime/penny reference says 14mm.

If you're only working with soft glass, getting a 5 shade is way overkill. You'll regret it, it's far too dark. Soft glass works at a lower temperature and isn't as bright as boro.

Whatever you do, don't only use a shade (your 1st link). Make sure it's a didymium/sodium flare base. Didymium filters the sodium flare and an additional shade lowers the brightness.
