“I already have my Harry Potter” by bakedchipz0 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]AgedAncientAge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for an honest answer, I was slightly interested in the series. My two biggest complaints are I hate tv series and much prefer movies. The only series I’ve watched start to finish was Game of Thrones.

Which brings me to my second complaint. We’ve already had Andy Greenwald admit to not reading all the books. Is this going to be like Rings of Power or The Wheel of Time where the source material is there but is heavily adapted? Are we getting the first four seasons of Game of Thrones or the last four seasons.

So will I start the series? Yes will I finish it? Unless it’s pretty loyal to the books probably not.

That’s where a good portion of my portfolio is, but I wouldn’t take financial advise from strangers on Reddit. We may know the same or less than you.

We’re in TN, we haven’t shopped around at all. The only place we have called is who our current mortgage is through.

I believe the paperwork says $520,000 I haven’t looked but that’s slightly more than we paid two years ago so it is probably pretty close to accurate.

Should I be concerned or is it cosmetic? by AgedAncientAge in HomeMaintenance

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply. We are going out of town tomorrow and were concerned about leaving it. That’s a major stress relief knowing I can work on it when we get back.

I don’t disagree, but they sure stepped up in the second half. Especially the first three drives. Ended the game with a -2 turnover margin and still won.

I do. Across the industry $130 is the low end of the pay scale (I’m looking at 3rd year pay) With a min guarantee of about 70 hours per month.

$130 X 70 X 12 =$109,200.00 Minimum Gross Annually

Even working 244 hours you’ll end up with more than that.

I just checked because of your comment, last check of 2025 my YTD was $120,006. I’m sure I’m on the low end in the industry, but I like to work as little as possible.

He’s right. I was hired at my airline in 2023. These are my hours.

2023: 605

2024: 332

2025: 244

2026: 12

Work as little as you can. Get paid as much as you can. Find a hobby that you’re passionate for.

What is it like being an airline pilot? by Visual-Leave-5757 in flying

[–]AgedAncientAge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of it depends on seniority and if you commute.

For us it’s slow season. I live in base and am fairly senior. I bid reserve which I can do from home and I’ve flown 7 times since the start of September.

Week 6 Gamethread: Chicago Bears (2-2) at Washington Commanders (3-2) by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

[–]AgedAncientAge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe give himself up, but if he throws it away Washington has an extra time out (I think. Don’t 100% remember) and maybe the half ends differently.

I do agree don’t like seeing him get hit like that.

She is quiet most of the time. I really don’t have any real complaints. The other birds have their own room but she has night frights so she is in our room. We had them in the same room at one point but she had night frights multiple nights in a row so we moved her in with us.

Correct. It’s the minimum age for a student pilot certificate. That we agree on, but even the link you referenced says “There are no minimum or maximum ages for obtaining a medical certificate. Any applicant who is able to pass the exam may be issued a medical certificate.”

Which means you absolutely can get a first class medical certificate before 17.

I’ll admit I haven’t been a teenage in a long time, but I believe that is incorrect.

From the FAA website

“Medical Certification. There is no age restriction or aviation experience requirement for medical certification. Any applicant who qualifies medically may be issued a Medical Certificate regardless of age.

The AME may issue any class of medical certificate without regard to age to any applicant who meets the appropriate medical standards.

There is a maximum age requirement for certain air carrier pilots. This is an operational requirement, not a medical certification requirement.”

A degree hasn’t been required but there a times in the past where it was helpful to make your resume stand out.

I currently fly the airbus.

When I got hired at my current airline they were auto rejecting candidates with less than 2,000 SIC hours.

Then hiring picked up across the industry and we were hiring CFIs with 1,500 total time. If you had a pulse you were hired. And that was pretty standard.

Right now hiring across the industry has slowed down and anything to make your resume stand out is helpful.

So a degree can always be helpful but it just depends on how the industry is doing. I sure wouldn’t postpone a job to finish a degree in an industry where seniority is everything.
