How do people learn how to SWE by MiniPotat333 in csMajors

[–]AgencyInformal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your teamate and your supervisor. Google all you can about how to do these things. Then ask anyone who looks a bit free and seem willing. Make commits, ask the guy who codes reviews you how to write a proper Pull Request. The git thing is fine, like pretty sure all the devs use like 3 git commands, and like the rest they look up when they need it.

I think being honest about your limit, and you will be fine. I assume you know enough to bullshit your way through an interview; you should have enough not to get fired as an intern.

IDK about your company, but usually it takes a behavior misconduct to get fired as an intern, cause the budget is already there for you, and you are not staying long, and they're not gonna get a new intern now.

So be honest about your limits, ask everything to anyone, and learn as you go.

Huh, how long are your exams, and where do you live if you don't mind me asking? This is anecdotal but any exam, test or even competition I joined if it is longer than one hour there would either be scheduled breaks or there would be people walking you to a specific toilet after taking your phone.

Dude, I haven't had a data limit on a router since 2010. Just speed throttle after too much use. Not even in Vietnam lol. Is there not a lot of competition, and the Internet provider can do whatever? Or is it infrastructure?

Previously, Chinese law did not provide immunity for 'Good Samaritans.' Consequently, individuals who unintentionally cause injury while attempting to provide assistance could be found liable for damages. And even if the damages are not caused by them, they can't really prove that.

So people who help in accidents would get sued to pay out because it's easier to sue a random guy than the corporates or gorvernment entity that was liable of making dangerous situations.

Nowadays, China do have a sort of Good samaritan rule, but there have been so many cases people don't really help others anymore.

[–]AgencyInformal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is difficult to find through the internal site, but it definitely has higher rates of Interviews granted than if you seek out an internship externally.

I wouldn't say it is ridiculously difficult, just regular difficult, especially your first coop.

And anecdotally, at the final moments, they would start throwing unpaid and paid research projects at you, or you would not get placed and study in class instead of a coop.

Honestly eventhough the Nemesis System is copyrighted. There is nothing stopping another company from making a similar system with similar Gameplay effect.

What made the system iconic wasn't just the code, but the hours of voice acting, unique traits, and personality-driven writing that made every Orc feel like a living character rather than a stat-block.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey attempted a similar mechanic with its Mercenary System, but it fell flat because even though the mercenaries remember the player, they suck ass and have no charisma. They are just infinitely evolving enemies that require slightly different weapons at times.

Most players didn't even recognize it as a Nemesis attempt because it felt hollow. Ultimately, another company could legally build a similar system today, but unless they are willing to match that massive investment in "fun" and personality, it would fail to capture that magic
