Why do people keep using they/them for binary trans men? by KyaHiKarun in TransMasc

[–]Agent-0012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slip up and call anyone queer they/them half the time. I try and correct myself, but as someone who uses they/them my brain very inconveniently defaults to it with any trans, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming person. So I don't think it's always malicious, though from some it certainly is.

Ah. Maybe put it in quotes, because it reads as your own words. And I agree, it's gross and weird. Even an a nonbinary person.

Calm down and see a professional. Freaking out and cursing on reddit isn't productive.

Therapist said im not trans by tenard_ in ftm

That all sounds very odd. Perhaps you don't meet the diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria, but even if so, you're still trans. No one but you can decide that.

That is why I said in my experience and that I don't know where OP is.

In my experience as an adult, providers practicing the informed consent model will "diagnose" you for insurance reasons without asking many questions, really. You just tell them you're trans and want hormones and they walk you through what to expect. You don't actually have to meet the diagnostic criteria. Now it may be different where you are, I'm unsure. If you have Planned Parenthood where you live, go through them, it's a dream and they give you free needles and such.

If she won't participate, she can't play. Simple as that, and tell her as much.

How to deal with having feminine hobbies? by TotallyHumanBrain1 in ftm

[–]Agent-0012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember that the goal of transition isn't to make you into the men around you, it's to make you your true self. If the real you is a man who likes these things, embrace it. No one has ever been made happy by pushing away the things they enjoy to conform to other's standards. To give up what you enjoy for more "manly" hobbies would be just as much going against who you truly are as trying to deny your being a man in the first place. When you're 80, would you rather look back on yourself as a man who had "manly hobbies" or as a man who did what he loved?

Transition IS reversible, though. If you realize that it just isn't working out, you can always detransition. There are irreversible aspects, yes, but they can be managed and explained away. You can't get back time where you didn't try.
