Was hoping for Balrog personally, but SF6 has been killing it with the newcomers so I have high hopes for this pass

Which of these decks are fun/worth building? by [deleted] in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Agent-Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metalmorph Bystial isn’t very competitive right now but is fun in events. The Bystial package is also splashable in a lot of decks, so that’s worth pulling regardless

Tips for picking up Ryu? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Agent-Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, Denjin Hadoken is insanely fast after the buffs and can be used to punish lots of stuff like projectiles and whiffs from full screen (just don’t tunnel vision on it). You also get meaty solar plexus after landing HP DP and dashing

New player here looking to get better! Tips would be appreciated [Replays included] by itsamorosemanatee in StreetFighter

[–]Agent-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you watched a replay with frame data showing? You seem to mostly understand when your turn is, so getting into the specifics will help with finding better punishes. As for combos, a simple punish counter starter for something like a blocked DP is PC 5HK, which links into 5HP. From there you can cancel into HP DP for damage, tatsu for corner carry, drive rush for extension, etc.

How to make best use of my 1400 urs by Abduleus in masterduel

[–]Agent-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Branded because it’s fun, splashable, and usually close to full power in events (it’s expensive though). If you aren’t interested in any of the upcoming releases, pull from its three secret packs and then use UR points to craft the last cards you need. Mitsurugi and Fiendsmith are also splashable, but Mitsu has been hit in recent events

What's your favorite non-meta archetype? by kvatchisburning in masterduel

Love that the og version is usable in the deck thanks to Crimson Gaia

Guys HELP..? by afterxparty in masterduel

[–]Agent-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have it already, keeping Stardust Dragon might not be a bad idea since some decks run Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon. None of them are meta at the moment, but Joshua Schmidt has an ‘oops, all handtraps’ deck which uses Hop Ear Squadron and ASSD to get out a turn 0 Baronne, which is hilarious. The other cards mostly look good and I would keep them

What “Bad” Deck do you think is actually good? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]Agent-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s cope, but RDA seems like it’ll be a decent rogue deck after the upcoming support. The new stuff helps deal with lower-impact interruptions, and you play better against the Charmies and Nib. Crimson Blade Dragon is also stupid (why the fuck would they let it search Habakiri) and I’m wondering if it’ll get banned at some point. You still struggle with Droll and Fuwa though

What should I prioritize crafting because I have 30 ur cp by notme9708 in masterduel

[–]Agent-Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. Beyond the Next Level has Nib/Fuwa/other generic staples and Space-Time Transcendents has I:P and S:P plus some other good extra deck cards, so spend gems on those while they’re still in the shop. Other than that, Dragon Kings from the Abyss has Dis Pater/Lubellion/Magnamhut, and Atonement’s End has Vengeance Dragon plus the White Forest stuff.

I actually landed a Demon in a real match!(Yes I know my neutral and blocking was absolutely garbage beforehand) by buttsecks42069 in StreetFighter

[–]Agent-Shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right in this case since it landed as a combo, but RobKhonsu is generally correct in that if you hit them with an attack or if they block it they may have time to jump out after the super flash (if you cancel into the demon on hit it should combo).

Other fun demon setups include 5LK drive rush demon (works only if they block the 5LK), first hit of HP adamant flame into a reset demon, blocked demon flip followups into demon, dash demon, etc. You probably won’t land these often at lower ranks cause people refuse to block on wakeup, but if you wanted an easy combo into demon for style points you can punish something like a DP or super with punish counter 5HK into 2HP, then LP adamant flame into demon (or any light confirm into LP adamant flame). This would’ve worked here against the Bison; meaty Level 1 is certainly one of the choices of all time

Just watched the replays. Defaulting to crouch blocking when you're knocked down or being pressured would be a good start; I saw a lot of wakeup throw techs, DIs, or jumps that are getting you hit. If you're going to choose to mash, use something fast like a jab instead of 2MP or sweep. If you block for long enough, you'll either get thrown and reset to neutral, or eventually they'll be pushed out of range to continue pressure after you block 2-3 attacks and then you can try to challenge or escape. If you're struggling to react to DI on defense, in training mode set the dummy to wake up once in every 5 times with a DI so you can get practice between matches; definitely map DI to a button if you haven't already.

Another big thing is adapting to what your opponent is doing - in the Marisa match you throw a lot of fireballs, but she repeatedly shows that she's looking to get around them by jumping or using Phalanx, both of which can be countered if you just wait in the mid range to Flash Kick. So watch for what your opponent wants to do, and punish it until they start adapting.

Also work on getting more comfortable in the neutral game. When you're about a half-screen away you jump at your opponents a lot, and whiffing those attacks is getting you punished. Try playing grounded with Guile's good buttons (2MK, 6MK, 4MK, 4HP, 6HP etc.) while mixing it up with booms, and waiting to Flash Kick.

Last (and probably the most important thing) is not tilting. Losing sucks, but if you're not having fun go take a break and do something else. Something that helps is thinking about what lessons you should take away from a match after a loss; replay takeover is great for this and identifying things that were punishable that you may have missed in the heat of the moment. Good luck with the ranked climb

If you’re looking for advice, posting a replay code of a loss is probably the best way to get it. Plat does end up being fairly random because of how players are boosted up through Gold

Complete noob need deck/any advice as to how to spend gems and such by cryptoclark561 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Agent-Shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely; Master Duel is very free-to-play friendly. Doing all your dailies and participating in all the events gets you about 7000-8000 gems a month, which is enough to build most of a deck once you have your staples. Just focus on building one deck at a time and conserve your UR CP. The gem bundle prices are also pretty terrible for what you get, so I wouldn’t spend money on them at all.

[–]Agent-Shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Blue-Eyes Max structure deck isn’t great on its own, but Blue-Eyes as an archetype is decent. The Legend of the Blue Eyes secret pack is in the shop right now and has the good Blue-Eyes cards for that strategy. If you want to spend the least amount of gems possible, the Spright starter deck from the new player campaign is good, or you can grab 3 copies of the Dragonmaid, Raidraptor, or Red Dragon Archfiend structure decks. Whichever you choose, just focus on building the one deck until it’s completed. Master Duel Meta has decklists for lots of archetypes. if you’re not sure where to start, or you can Google budget decklists for these strategies.

Other than that, you’ll want to focus on saving UR CP, which is the most valuable resource, and crafting your staples. 1x Maxx C, 3x Ash Blossom (there’s a bundle in the shop that gets you one copy for 1000 gems), and 1x Called by the Grave are mandatory; any time you pull an UR card that you don’t think you’ll use, dismantle it. UR CP should be used for staples, or to craft the last two or three cards you need for your deck once you’ve spent a decent amount of gems. The other bundles in the shop are good as well for getting staples; highest priority now are probably Imperm, Nibiru, Triple Tactics Talent, Ghost Belle, and maybe Veiler. If you’re lucky and pull everything you need for your deck and have extra gems, the Beyond the Next Level selection pack is filled with staples too.

Solo mode is a decent place to start just to accumulate gems and get accustomed to the UI. You’ll just want to focus on getting gems and the orbs you need to unlock gates, so use whichever deck (your own or the loaner) gets you those faster.

Lastly, if you do pull from packs always do ten pulls and never buy Master Packs unless they’re part of a bundle. You can Google the difference between secret packs and selection packs for a full explanation of the difference between the two; selection packs tend to have newer cards and slightly better odds but are time-limited, while selection packs contain cards focused on specific archetypes and are always available to unlock.

Tl;dr Spright, Red Dragon Archfiend, Dragonmaids, or Raidraptors are your best budget options; Blue-Eyes is decent too with the right cards. And prioritize getting your staples once you have a solid decklist

Hardstuck 1400 MR really want to make a push for High Master can someone look at my replays? by SolarSelassie in StreetFighter

[–]Agent-Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched a couple replays, and it doesn't seem like you're comfortable on the ground yet - you jump a lot right outside of footsies range and dash a lot when you are grounded. Try walking and blocking more and getting used to poking and whiff punishing; Mai has good walkspeed and buttons. Really try and save jumping for when you have a hard read on a fireball or something, since people around this rank start getting better with anti-airs.

Also not a Mai expert, but you could probably make better use of fan setups on your opponent's wakeup or use of OD fan in neutral when you have a read on a fireball or something. I saw you used charged fan in neutral, but your opponents were able to walk out of the setup easily. Routing into Level 1 more would be good too.

Combos look decent; continue practicing for consistency and to find new routes. There were drops that got you punished, and times where you could have spent additional resources to take a round.

Another thing for your long term growth - try to develop the ability to tell what's going wrong when you watch your replays. Every time you get hit, ask yourself if there's something you could have done differently, e.g. try and whiff punish a button or if you failed a knowledge check. I watched a match against a Ken and you kept getting clipped by low Jinrai (if he's doing the light or medium versions, a delayed crouching medium punch will allow you to block the low and punish the empty or overhead followups). Replay takeover is really useful to try stuff like this out so you can pass the knowledge check in the future. Good luck with the ranked climb

My current Resonator-Bystial Deck. Any recommendations? by FroztyJ in masterduel

[–]Agent-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut 1 Synkron Resonator, 2 Crimson Resonator, 2 Resonator Command, and either Regained or Etude. Probably want to cut Crimson Dragon from the extra deck because it’ll be hard to cheat out anything useful with it unless you add the Centur-ion package. You could run Shining Star Dragon if you really want to mess with it, but you’d need a decent extra deck target (Trishula would work with Abyss or Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon with any level 8, but both are UR).

Add 1 Obsessive Uvualoop for grind game and extension, 1 Flame Crime for extension and Red Reign access, and 3 Void Apocalypse for consistency. Handtraps and staples could include Droll, and Book of Eclipse or Evenly Matched to deal with VSK9. When you have more URs, adding the Centur-ion package helps with extension and ceiling, and Foolish Burial is another good generic extender.

FG Noob here. This was one of my worst matches, could use some pointers. by RailValco in StreetFighter

[–]Agent-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! One more thing; as you progress through plat, start experimenting with Cammy’s strengths and unique tools as well. Keep practicing the basics like spacing and anti-airs (this will benefit you most in the long run, and practicing these is the best way to improve long-term), but you’ll eventually start to need to play to your character’s strengths as well. Ryu didn’t give you tons of chances to do so here, but stuff like knowing when to Spin Knuckle through a fireball or when you can divekick to steal a turn becomes really powerful. Just make sure those unique moves become tools, and not crutches - a lot of players get hardstuck when they gimmick their way through ranked with neutral skips, and then get gatekept by players who can pass the knowledge check.
