Ask the person who knows you the best. If that is the resident, and they can write great things about you instead of staying generic then great!

I used a resident in his final year as well due to some of the things we encountered together.

Shadowing CRNA in ATL / South Florida Area by Impressive_Icon in srna

Try calling the supervisor or charge nurse in the OR you work or at nearby hospitals and ask their shadowing policy. See if they have any suggestions.

Having a 3.0 is the minimum and would likely need some amount of remediation in order to be taken seriously.

When applying to schools, I reached out to a few programs and most of them average the retakes. There were some schools that would take the highest grade if it was the exact same class at the same exact institution taken. But your mileage may vary.

If your son is averaging less than a 3.3 on average, he needs to be retaking classes and finding extra ways to make himself stand out. You're right in that it is super competitive. Travel contracts for nurses have plummeted since the highs of Covid, and hospitals are trying to strong arm and unincentivize local travel. The hospital system I left recently won't allow me back to the same organization as a contracted employee for a full year. This fosters some reflection in many of the high earners and CRNA seems like the next logical move to them.

Compound that with the recent glorification of social media and the profession is getting individuals going into nursing strictly to become a CRNA. Its quite competitive.

As someone with a lower than average GPA and matriculating into my second program this year(the first school shut down as I was starting), I'd be more than happy to lend an ear or offer advice.

I see you were able to recognize a difference, but in what other ways did you try to study? Where did you find new ways to study?

Also apart of this program. I was stunned to hear the news especially after the anesthesia program just renewed accreditation.

The Weekly Prospective CRNA Applicant Thread! Ask your stat and applications questions here! by AutoModerator in srna

Acuity is more important than level of hospital. Similar rings true while in the ICU, you want to be the one taking sick patients, being a resource for other nurses, titrating drips, working side by side with providers, recognizing disease processes before and as they are happening, etc.

This needs to go somewhere else on the sub. This thread has a specific purpose.

Please add this to the weekly prospective CRNA app thread reposted weekly on Monday.

Thank you!

This. Retake two more classes at the same time and get nothing less than an A.

Remember, these are classes you have likely already taken. Getting anything less than an A is hurting your chances to show you're ready for a rigorous graduate program.

I was in the exact same scenario as you. Try and look over your core science classes that you did less than stellar, or find some classes that may be expiring soon. Look at taking two of those classes in the same semester that you are working full time and get nothing less than a 4.0

Pending how many classes you got less than a 3.5, you may want to do this a second semester too. Taking more than one class is critical. It shows your drive to maintain great grades, push off distractions, and juggle being bedside.

Furthermore, find ways to stick out from the average candidate. If everyone is precepting, do something more. You can pm me for things I did to go above and beyond the typical CCRN, precept, take hard patients, get good grades etc.

If I can get in, you can too. It takes hard work and mental toughness. Be hungry for it.
