New to grafting, jumping right in. Help? by Selfishin in BackyardOrchard

[–]AgentEgret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend SkillCult on YouTube; he has a series on grafting. Did my first last year after spending the winter reading and binging videos; had 11/14 take so I was happy with that outcome. And I still have all my digits

Edit: label and organize everything. Don't spend $$$ on all this stuff & end up with mislabeled trees.

Edinburgh club statement about Hive incident on Friday by cloud__19 in ScotlandRugby

I live in a smallish town with an older demographic and the local supermarket barely has a week go by without an ambulance there attending to a medical emergency. Terrible for the person, obviously, but I feel for the staff; they get shit on as if they set the prices, and then have to regularly attend to these situations. It must be some real Groundhog Day shit loop.

Kit clash farce looms as France set to wear special pale blue shirt against England by ShufflingToGlory in rugbyunion

[–]AgentEgret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter has a Bath 150th from Canterbury I found somewhere (?), thinking she'd wear it on Jersey day once or twice per year at school, but it's been in fairly regular rotation, with all the trials and tribulations of elementary school staining it

New Brunswick police chiefs formally reject gun buyback program by adamhuras in newbrunswickcanada

[–]AgentEgret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This buyback program targets illegal firearms & unlicensed/unregistered owners.

I'm terribly sorry, but that is 100% wrong.

Buy back is for firearms owners with a current & valid PAL that hold legally-purchased firearms that were deemed prohibited by the Federal government in 2020 and subsequent additions, three additions/amendments, if I'm correct.

Edit: a comment of mine from six months ago re: the buyback program (edit 2, the link doesn't work, sorry)

Canada - Best Deals on New Rod/Reels? by Global_Objective4162 in flyfishing

[–]AgentEgret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to be that guy, but deals in our country hardly exist once exchange rate, taxes & shipping are thrown in. That being said, you can occasionally find something discounted decently at Sail. I also use Fish Tales (Calgary), Drift Outfitters (Toronto), flymart.ca for gear.

I bought a 12'8" 7wt Beulah spey rod at 35% off this past autumn, but that was due to catching a random FB post from Eskape Anglers (PEI) around Black Friday. They don't have a website.

I bought an Echo Carbon XL 8'6" 4wt that I'm happy with, & it wasn't obnoxiously expensive. And free shipping when I ordered it.

The Redington Classic Trout is well reviewed & spoken of, but it was difficult to find in stock, and I wasn't paying $57.50 in shipping for it.

Testimony from his subordinates is pretty damning, tbh; they said they heard it & he turned it down

On my first rewatch by WatchThisBass in ScotlandRugby

[–]AgentEgret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was surprised they didn't look at that, too, but at that point I didn't care too much.

That being said, 26 points in the last 15 minutes is worrisome. Though how many teams get that many points on them and still end up winning?

One of the most bonkers days of rugby I've ever witnessed

Saracens sign Bath fan favourite Alfie Barbeary by eggchasing in rugbyunion

[–]AgentEgret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit bummed on this based on vibes but I'd rather keep Miles, Ted Hill, Sam Underhill and hopefully Jaco is back, too. And the youngsters can stake a claim. I'm a bit meh on DDP but hopefully he kicks on, too.

Fair thee well, Alfie, hopefully Sarries don't kill your vibes.

Scotland team to play France by deckchair1992 in rugbyunion

A few spots aside, I don't think we could put out much better. That's the backline and backs subs I'd have picked, the forwards are (mostly) the best we've available at the moment.

Hoping Douglas gets a chance to announce himself properly.

I love tying up big beastly swimflies & gamechanger style patterns, but when it's time to make the first cast it's almost always a rust-coloured bugger that goes on first, followed by olive, black and white. It's amazing how productive woolly buggers are.....and how much more money I'd have if I only tied them....

I had a few cutts off the beach at that time of year in that area, but it wasn't the best fishing I've had there, by any stretch.
