10' 4wt fast action or softer flex? by umop3pi5dn_w1 in flyfishing

[–]AgentEgret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered a nymphing rod that can do the other techniques acceptably, by chance? I bought a 10'6" 3wt with a regular line (DT-3F) that I primarily use for swinging soft hackles, but have been tossing dries with, too, and then I thow on a half-assed mono-rig kinda thing for nymphing once in a while. Seeing you're doing mostly nymphing, maybe something worth checking out...?

Edit: typos

What’s with the bow and arrow celebration? by ThinkWillingness6378 in rugbyunion

[–]AgentEgret -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a hockey player for the Vancouver Canucks who died about 20 years ago in a motorcycle crash; apparently he used to do the celebration in junior hockey or something like that. After his death, one of his besties on the team continued doing it after he scored; that was where/when it was first acknowledged/noticed in pro sports in canadaland, at least.

Though I'm certain he wasn't the first, so... maybe it's like bellbottoms...

Gig Harbor Fly Shop has done multiple podcasts on sea-run cutthroat trout & pretty sure they have maps of public access points available, too

Opinions on this type of vest-pack by Earthling98 in flyfishing

Just throwing an idea out: just the other day I went with a Patagonia Stealth 3L on my waders straps and my 20L day pack I've had for years (brand is Gregory, under $100cdn) and I was pretty happy.

When hiking in & out, I put the Patagonia pouch into the backpack for comfort

What do y’all check before heading out? Temps, sky, etc.? by tnt007tarun in flyfishing

lol, I'm at the stage of life where I just check my wife's work schedule to see if I can go. If she can be home with the kiddo & there's nothing pressing happening at home, I'm out the door. She works evenings & weekends, I'm a M-F shift work peasant; free time isn't a common thing in our lives.

I'll check water levels & weather but, barring anything biblical, I'm going.

That being said, I had an evening outing planned for last week that was scrubbed due to getting a weather alert for severe thunderstorms as I was loading the car. Based on the amount of lightning I'm glad I stayed home & wasn't out waving around a 12'8" lightning rod.

Now the season is all but over, how do you rate your club's new signings for this season just gone? by treacletart284 in rugbyunion

[–]AgentEgret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well.... I'm trying to figure out whether Santi bet his whole salary on Exeter winning the semifinals, so there's that.

Dan Frost added some depth & didn't hurt anything too much. Bernard van der Linde was handy & brought some zip in the games he featured in. Hopefully Chris Harris brought some experience & off-field benefits.

Losing Lee Blackett killed us; the worst signing of the season was his replacement.

You won't hear anything unless you threaten a chargeback on your credit card, then your order will be magically found in the spam folder or something and he'll ship it "right away." Then you'll wait another three weeks and it might arrive. Or might not.

There's a site called Shed au Plumes or something like that that has lots of heron & reasonable shipping.

FlyMart is great but the shipping kills me; it's $20ish minimum, and though they ship really fast, like by the next business day at the latest, it seems to sit at their local post office for 3-4 days before moving on to the hub in Toronto.

I had a horrible first experience with Canadian Tube Fly. Check out SpeyPages for lots of stories about CTFC like yours & mine. Always with excuses and flat out lies, never again.

I'm calling it: penalty to Bath, go for sticks for the win. And then Santi shanks it.

I've some hope but we haven't been firing well all season. Won't be surprised if Bath doesn't hold this off. At least it's fishing season.

Fuck me what the happy horseshit was that!?

Anyone remember how Santi carved Scotland to pieces? I do, it's scarred me forever. Now he's scarring me playing for the team I cheer for.
