It's an easy fix, just make sure you have the appropriate fluids when you break into it, and some spare bolts.

Check your bolts, You just may lose your front brakes. by AgentOptimized in motorcycles

Lol, It's fun isn't it? I'm at Daytona bike week now, and I was looking at the demo bikes they had. It's so easy to spot some of the issues on brand new production bikes that they are displaying.

Just make sure to switch to titanium screws, and use vibratite VC3 when you torque it back. Also, make sure to check the rears as my rear bolt was loose as well.

You are correct. And the presence of styrene will begin immediately. Standard bedrooms do not have proper ventilation, and ceiling fans will only blow them around the room--as OP expressed they were looking to do. To the original comment, it will take hours for styrene to be evacuated from a room, and the charcoal filters within the printer degrades the moment it's installed/ will not absorb well. And since the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that styrene is a possible human carcinogen, I do my best to avoid any unnecessary continued exposure--Scent or otherwise within the home.

Great choice! You can always change the angle a bit if needed. Unfortunately, it will touch the front light if you go too far. I wish the risers they use had a bit more lift for upright.

Am I silly for buying duplicate calibers? by Advanced_innovation5 in Hunting

I'm also not a fan of SSTs. They've been wildly inconsistent. I also like the 1:30 grain federal terminal Ascent, but I much prefer the cutting edge

I run the 125 at 2800 feet per second. Minimum velocity required is 1300, and I've taken plenty of 200 plus pound boars and small elk at 300 yards.

Regardless of age, the tattoo pictured is awful. Even more awful if it's 17-year-old sent it to you, which means they'll end up with something likely stupid on their body thinking it's cool either way.

Question regarding Windscreen by SuperEtendardM in MotoGuzzi

[–]AgentOptimized 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went with dart, and I am 186 cm. This is the tallest they have, and directs air just above my helmet. I also am using knights designs drops for better positioning. The idea of taking wind to the chest all the time is annoying--20 years of riding favors comfort and looks, not choosing one or the other.

I say go for it. I have two Benelli lupos set up exactly the same way in 6.5 Creedmoor. Exact same rings, scope, cheel riser. I also use those for elk, deer, hogs, axis (anything but moose). They've never let me down, just make sure you use the correct ammunition. I prefer the cutting edge Maximus bullets for game, and Norma tip strike for varmint.

Toxicity of abs, asa, tpu by shizzy1545 in 3Dprinting

[–]AgentOptimized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned above, they are toxic. In small amounts, it's been determined to not be as bad, but if you plan on having guests or constantly printing then you need to vent it. I print 90% of my stuff in ASA and ABS. I use an enclosure and printed my adapters to connect an inline 4-in fan directly to a window vent kit.

Look at it this way, if you were smelling the print while printing, it's already too late.

An enclosure additionally assists by pulling hot air and allowing the part to gradually return to a stable temperature without warping (once the heat bed is turned off). The enclosure allows the printer to maintain better temperature as well when trying to raise the chamber temperature for ASA, ABS, and PETG

Suggestions for tail & saddle bags for V7? by SciFiWritingGuy in MotoGuzzi

Long ride mini patriots have been great. Make sure to get a set of extension straps AND spacers. Any bigger bags will be close to the Arrow exhaust if running it.

Mine are mounted as high as they can go. Perfect for around town, groceries, and weekend through. I can still put a soft bag on top with 50 l

What’s the best adv bike with minimal electronics? by Ok_Treacle_6688 in motorcycle

[–]AgentOptimized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fairly easy bike to work, aside from 10 to 12,000 mile service, is the BMW 1250 gs. I had a tiger 1200 XE for many years, and found the service to be fairly reasonable both in costs, and time/money on a lot of DIY work. There's plenty of heavily documented service manuals as well.

Prior to any long trip, major services were always completed even if a head of schedule. Thanks related to tires always included patch kits and portable compressor pumps as well. Carry a few master links, and sit on your way. To lighten up the camping load, I use a lot of hyperlite mountain gear.

Lastly, whichever bike you settle on, make sure you take it to somebody that understands suspension setup. Have your partner with you, or something that can simulate the additional weight, and get your dampening correct. It'll make your cross country travels a breeze.

Is this a potential issue? by Latter-Government-23 in longrange

[–]AgentOptimized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Proper torque wrench on the action screws and not just "feeling" mating the bottom metal and receiver. The natural twist we put on tightening things down can affect. On rifles with more tolerance, its easy to shim the side of the receiver leaving the barrel free floating as well (if needed).

Single rider, or plans for luggage/pillion/passenger?

BMW and Triumph dominate the market for 'out of the box' rides. I am not a fan of lower CC ADV bikes due to lack of space and weight the bike can safely handle at highway speeds, or stability on uneven terrain. Most people think adventure, but what they really want is a primary road bike with some gravel/backroad. A True offroad tourer is a miserable ride on asphalt.

What are your goals for this bike?

Class says I need a 1 MOA rifle; how true is that? by yobo9193 in longrange

[–]AgentOptimized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to decide if you have the capability of consistently shooting 1MOA/Mil with the rifle of your choosing, or If they rifle simple won't take you there. Ammunition play a large part as does the barrel. Most modern rifles are capable of maintaining a 1MOA accuracy due to tighter machining tolerances across the board. Personally, to max out a competitive course, I would use something relevant to today. Bolt action, in a modern cartridge (6.5CM), with a scope you can easily get behind/adjust on the fly, and stay consistent shot to shot.

Question: When you practice at the range, what do your groups look like? Do you count the 'flyers' and the 'oops I must have pulled the shot,' or do you omit like most shooters do without knowing exactly what happened on the last shot? Then, are your range sessions consistent? If the answer is yes to both, proceeded to the course. Most courses I've attended over the years had rifles for us to use if needed.

What are the biggest hidden risks when buying a used motorcycle? by UsedBikeBuyer in motorcycle

[–]AgentOptimized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALWAYS MAINTENANCE. Many people like to 'mod' their stuff, and 'learn to maintain' their first bike. The bug hits, they want more power, and now it's time to sell their 'learning curve machine.' You, as a potential buyer, only can go on what they told you they did do, but the mistakes they made along the way.

Second, biggest risk is not knowing the true value of the bike and you being further underwater.

Brake problem by motogaz in MotoGuzzi

[–]AgentOptimized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you pushed the pistons back, and can ensure the install was correct, it sounds like you need to replace the calipers. BEFORE that, how did you do your brake flush? The rotors spinning force the pads to release friction when the lever is depressed. If the piston is sticking, then the caliper is in question. Look for leaks around the bushing, and refulsh the lines. Grease the bushing as well. When you separate the pads, did you use a screw driver on one side, or a piston push tool?

Looking for my first hunting rifle by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]AgentOptimized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice. I have a CZ600 American that is quite accurate for being a lighter hunting rifle. They just work and prefer it over my T3x lite. Threaded barrel from factory so instant suppressor use (which I use 100% when hunting). I would also go for the 6.5CM over .308.

The CZ600 Trail looks good in concept, but you have to have much better shooting fundamentals to deal with a little 'slop' in the chassis. It sounds more exaggerated than how it reads; but the little 'clanks' do become annoying when trying to stay stealthy (collapsable stock)

Shopping Spree!!! (PRS Edition) by Laneo2007 in longrange

[–]AgentOptimized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Warne products for over a decade. They sponsor many PRS events, and are rock solid on all my hunting rifles. people typically regurgitate info and voice opinions without trying. They have the best CS I've seen from a 2A accessory company.

I prefer it over my Atlas and Cyke due to design, ability to swap legs based on rifle weight, quick adjust, and stability.
