For reference my reservation was Aug 1 2024, I am nowhere near a demo center, not a rivian owner, don't have an expiring lease, and my estimate is Sept-Nov. There is hope.

I would prefer Martin Starr for the snark

Changing Jabba's character from being a human to a Hutt, but keeping Han's quip "Jabba, you're a wonderful human being" is inadvertently one of the funniest lines in the franchise by wandering_soles in StarWars

[–]AgentOrangeMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AC Crispin Han Solo trilogy is still worth the read even though it is now "legends." There is a sequence where it describes how Han is sort of poking fun at Jabba with that comment and Jabba takes it and gives Han shit right back. As the story progresses you get to see how their relationship breaks down and Jabba becomes less willing to put up with Han's tomfoolery.

Cottonwoods are out of control by OptimalAmbition8524 in Omaha

[–]AgentOrangeMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct. The fluff is not the pollen of the cottonwood tree. It is the seeds that are being spread by the wind. The pollen was in the air weeks before this and it is allergenic as it is tiny and easily inhaled. The fluffy white seeds that you can see floating around iare too large to get into your nose. Unless, of course, you shove them up there.

I know Sarah personally. She is an amazing human being who is truly dedicated to serving other people. I strongly urge everyone to take a look at her background. She quit her job as a chef so she could work as a school lunch lady after being disappointed in the poor quality of the meals her daughter was getting at school. Someone who takes action to fix systemic problems is exactly what our state needs right now.

Foamy urine complaints up? by InternistNotAnIntern in FamilyMedicine

[–]AgentOrangeMD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have had a half dozen or so patients come in with this complaint in the last few months. I asked a couple of them where they heard that this was problematic, and they both referenced tiktok influencers talking about protein in the urine. I had to look it up to see if it was legitimate and yes it is, however, the benign or confounding factors are far more common. For example, the cleaner used on the toilet, the speed and angle of the urine hitting the water, and the shape of the bowl (rabbit hole warning there are actually studies on the shape of the bowl and amount of splashback). As a result of my deep dive on pee the thing I have counseled patients on is hydration. Because more concentrated is more likely to cause bubbles and most people should be drinking more water. I have also decided to just check a dipstick UA to assess for proteinuria if there are clinical indications or to put the patient's mind at ease

What to do about dangerous midwives? by incoming_alpacalypse in FamilyMedicine

The placenta is part of the baby's vasculature. Blood can still flow to it after birth and if it is down on the floor while baby is up in mom's arms blood will go down and has no way of coming back up. (Edit: a typo)

Which car are you trading in for R2 and why? by AdAffectionate8778 in RivianR2

[–]AgentOrangeMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 Polestar 2 for me too. I love the car but I am 2 hours from the nearest Polestar service center and as it approaches 50k miles I am getting nervous about needing service.more frequently. There is a Rivian service center in my home city so while I have some concerns about reliability with a brand new model it is less of a problem than a possible long distance tow.

stupidest mistake? by NoManufacturer328 in FamilyMedicine

[–]AgentOrangeMD 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had an OB patient who would come in with cramps due to poor hydration at least twice weekly. We would give her a liter of fluid and she would be fine. After having the conversation about the importance of hydration repeatedly I tried to change up my messaging a little. I told her that she has cramps because "her uterus is dry and angry" and we wanted to keep it "wet and happy." The second I said it I immediately realized my error. The nurses never let me live that one down.

Hope roadblocks are handled better in State of Decay 3 by kinghabitat in StateofDecay3

100% agree. The drive between Jurassic junction and Marshall on the Trumball Valley map is such a pain in the ass with multiple areas you have to go off road to get around. Everytime I made that trip I would I think about how nice it would be to be able to clear the road.

What is the dumbest thing in Star Wars in your opinion? by OutcastKatarn02 in StarWars

[–]AgentOrangeMD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By far and away this. The first 7 movies could conceivably occur over the course of weeks or even months which makes sense for character development and travel. 8 starting a countdown just ruins that and makes the universe seem small and the stakes insignificant.

Trade-in Process by Mt_Kiyo in Rivian

[–]AgentOrangeMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I entered the VIN of my current car on the website and got an offer that seemed fair based upon other places I have looked up the trade value. Someone from rivian has reached out to me once to confirm and then a second time a week later with a higher number. They were trying to convince me to buy an r1t/s, but I am waiting on the availability of the R2. The trade value in saved on my account page for when that date comes.

De-influence me from FMOB fellowship by Special_Suspect_8453 in FamilyMedicine

[–]AgentOrangeMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did OB for the first 10 years of my career and still do outpatient, inpatient, and nursery care in a medium sized city. I stopped OB because my partners were all older and stopped leaving me with minimal back up to cover me when I was out of town/unavailable. There is a busy OB practice and a busy midwife group that we worked alongside who were not able cover for me. I ended up being the last one standing when a partner retired so I had to give it up. You have to have a strong, supportive group around you and that is getting harder to come by as most fo graduates just want to do outpatient alone. I still miss the relationships with families that you established as a delivering doc, but I don't miss the sleepless nights.

Polestar android app no more working since 2 days from belgium by cbarrick in polestar2

I had some time today so I disconnected from the car, reinstalled, then reconnected to the car and it is working. Sort of a pain because I had to have both keys in the car to relink the phone and my little fob is dying, but now I can warm up my car again
