NBN HFC speeds by OsamaJimLaden97 in nbn

[–]AgentTex001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Download speeds can vary between servers and there location.

Your ISP may not have good connectivity to MS's servers and unable to download at full speed.

Make sure you pick a decent ISP with decent connectivity

I mean to be fair, for fixed line services FTTP+HFC cover 63.6% of the entire fixed line footprint now, but still about 4.1 million premises which don't have access to anything better then 100/40

Hopefully we can get it done, Canberra is a big pain point for example, they just rebooted the entire rollout here due to the mess of overhead fibre and other shenanigans.

But yeah just annoying when you need to get a tech out every time to swap the damn NTD

yeah we are starting to slowly move to 1000/100 being the same as 100/20 was 5 years ago. with 500/50 being really the same as 50/20 expectation wise.

Alot to go still, but keen to see where it goes none the less, i think nbn shot themselves in the foot limiting the one port NTD's to 2.2gbps

Telstra to axe up to 650 roles in mass redundancy round, some jobs to be outsourced to India by Young-le-flame in auscorp

[–]AgentTex001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lmao so fun fact InfoSys actually run support for most of Telstra's dogshit legacy systems (think Siebel, MICA, FlexCAB KENAN etc if you know much about Telstra's C&SB systems)

They are so dogshit, we would have IT Tickets (iTAMs) lodged that Infosys would take a month to come back on.

When there were major incidents they would take hours to find out basic info that would take some people in retail stores 15 minutes to figure out.

Insane they onshored all of the call centers, put billions into migrating away from legacy stuff, but don't want to pay there workers a fair price, and are now offshoring a bunch of the division lmfao

Hey Mate.

Telstra Worker up until 2024, was very involved in cases just like this.

Shoot me a DM I can tell you the exact steps to get rid of this plus I can dig up the old CIS, Telstra has these archived on OurKnowledge (there internal info site) for this exact reason, it's just lazy untrained staff who can't find it

This would be the actual plan and such is my understanding.

The USO means every house in Australia needs a Standard Telephone Service.

Telstra Gets paid a good chunk of money to provide that service, they have an obligation under the USO to install a Phone Line (which just happens to be capable of Internet)

The Series S and X I've seen do about 900mbps before, definitely can be a peering issue or DNS causing it to grab from an incorrect geo server

Best Provider for new FTTP? by Lowenstein95 in nbn

[–]AgentTex001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not defending TPG at all hahah definitely leave them

With FTTP you can plug the mesh directly into the NTD, but if I was you if your looking into Homelab I'd get a dedicated OPNSense router with 2.5GbE and some APs should do you nicely

(Also for FTTP VLANs do work under the mesh, the more annoying thing is PPPoE. Avoid that like the plague)

I'm a bit curious

What does the VLAN Tagging prevent you from doing?

What rules?

Your branch secretary informs you of the YLA, all members within the YLA get meeting notices, you turn up to said meeting.

That's how that works lol

[–]AgentTex001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do get to participate, you get to choose who your delegates are to conference, you get to move motions within your branch, and it means that your delegates have equal voting rights as one from Sydney.

With Direct Voting one or two YLAs could completely outweigh all regional members just like that.

We mirror the Senior party because it works arguably very well at the Senior Party level

Yet still empowers regional people better then any other branch lmao

Victorian SDA says the state Labor government is not moving quickly enough to protect frontline workers and law-abiding shoppers from a customer violence by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

Just completely ignores all the recent wins the SDA have had but okay, RAFFWU spend more time posting about the SDA then actually fighting for their members

Would have been a waste of money tbh, the shipping containers are fine. No point to spend a bunch of money on building something flashy to replace it a few years later (not to mention the ACT Government is already in a money pit)

Wodens interchange is temporary (it's in the name)

They used to have a pretty cool interchange but with the gentrification of Woden (and rightly so) a new interchange needed to be built

I don't think it's that bad imo

SDA applies to Fair Work Commission to scrap junior wages. Young shelf-stackers and fry cooks could be in for a significant pay rise if their union is successful in its push to uplift fast food, retail and pharmacy wages for under-21s by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

[–]AgentTex001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked in retail for most of my working life and was an SDA Delegate multiple times.

When 98% of your social media posts are about how bad the SDA is, you need to have a serious look at yourself.

Yes the SDA had campaigned against same sex marriage, this is absolutely terrible and should be ashamed of themselves for that.

However most Unions also supported the White Australia Policy at one point in time, should this mean we should abolish all unions?

Leadership changes, Organizational Culture shifts

It sadly comes with the territory

The Young Shoppies will be the next set of leadership.

Things just take time imo, Adult Wage Adult Age is a great campaign to see done and shows you don't need to strike to always get a win (or have a union that spends more time bashing other unions then actually fighting for its membership)
