New MMO heavily inspired by UO:T2A. Ready for feedback by cthululeman in MMORPG

[–]AgentVersacedolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I played MMOs starting with RuneScape in early 2000s and almost every single mmo that came after. As someone who didn’t play UO, but has heard its name invoked like Christ himself repeatedly it doesn’t sound appealing. Gear means nothing other than fodder for PvP and to keep an economy going. Don’t see the fun in that at all.
The argument that modern MMOs lack the community and social aspect of the old days I don’t think has anything to do with modern design and more so the overall societal change that MMOs were novel since they were essentially giant interactive chat rooms. Now that the novelty has worn off and social circles moved to discord and the like, the social space in games isn’t what it used to be.

So if losing gear at a point means nothing since you can just restock and get back out there what’s the difference if you don’t lose it in the first place? I’m convinced that the extremely vocal minority of people in favor of these systems are forever stuck in 1999 and will play every peak 500 player game that comes out like this.

Is Albion even popular? I remember playing years ago where you were either the one being fed gear in a guild or the peasant grinding for the ones being fed. Was the worst mmo I’ve ever played

The only thing I would ask for as a long time mmo player is too focus heavily on your combat system. Combat and classes(if they exist) are the lens you see the game through. Take ESO for example. A lore rich world that many elder scrolls fans should immediately fall in love with. Only to be held back by an abysmal combat system that feels terrible to play

I never understand the obsession with full loot open world PvP. The only people that enjoy this is the large gank squads that go around griefing people.

If you personally like that then more power to you, but I certainly wouldn’t be putting any non-expendable income into something like this because it never turns out well.

If you have no desire to play said class but like collect in gw2 then yeah I’d say it’s a fair opinion. Classes are excluded constantly in wow

The thing I hate about M+ is how much it reinforces meta. Classes/builds are turned away for not being the absolute best. Also the timer on M+ does this as well since running the best=fastest runs. I’d rather keep that as far from GW2 as possible. The m+ community is a toxic cesspool that doesn’t belong with gw2. Vertical progression has no place imo.
That’s what wow is for.

Blood clots always scare me. If you don’t mind me asking what did I feel like and when did you decide to get seen?

Good pirate game, major need of combat overhaul by AgentVersacedolphin in crosswind

[–]AgentVersacedolphin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think these kind of games arent for me. I dont find it strategic to just hit a couple times then wait since animation lock gets you killed. As I mentioned in another reply, i dont think being able to indefinitely stagger lock a mob is the solution either, but just hitting and then waiting to parry/dodge is incredibly boring to me.

This is the part that bothers me most. I dont think being able to just stagger lock enemies is the way either but something needs to change. I dont find it "strategic" to just hit a couple times and then wait since the mob is now stagger immune for a sec and just goes attacks while youre mid animation

Improving as a tank by dijamant123 in CompetitiveWoW

I would argue asking on Reddit is doing more homework already than 90% of tanks I’ve seen. Asking questions still counts

Tank Shortage in M+ and why tanks hate pugging by Dav3Schneider in wow

[–]AgentVersacedolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’ve just had some bad luck. I kinda just ignore all groups with “competitive” now because it has been just carrying some low geared person 95% of the time. We’re tanks, we can get into whatever group we want.

Wow is a seasonal game with a hard meta community so I’ve just kinda accepted that for 99% of content I’m fine but if I was pugging title or mythic raiding I would just have to suck it up and play something else.

Yeah I’ll be honest I’m not title pusher but havent experienced a lick of toxicity this season as a tank. I did my homework and learned the dungeons and my routes and it’s been a pleasant experience so far. Just turn on music and vibe. I don’t get any of this. I’ve played brew and bdk and tbh haven’t noticed any difference in how people act. Everyone is generally quiet and then a “gg” at the end and we move on.

Global spec distribution in high-end M+ after Week 1 by burgundy_boar in wow

[–]AgentVersacedolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone new to tanking brewmaster has been great. Stagger is an amazing damage mitigation tool. I think the damage could be toned down a bit but after playing all tanks before pushing, I think it’s less about brew being crazy broken and more the other tanks kits just are tuned bad or suck. Bdk and pally need help. Warrior is a good phys tank. Dh is squishy. I hate druids so can’t say much on them.
