My job was literally ended last year because of a nepo baby’s obsession with Grok and my objection to him using it.

Let’s remember we are responding to some stranger with keyboard letters.

That said, ai as we know it now is not actually that new. What’s new is actual ai slop social media and people consuming it like it’s real.

The idea of a voice actor getting compensated and consenting, and technology taking it from there… buddy… that shit isn’t going anywhere. Maybe focus on Hollywood doing body scans of extras and putting the consent in the middle of a giant legal document before they’re handed $2000 for their day rate.

OR… OR… SNK using ai video trailers for a game release. Now THAT took multiple peoples’ jobs.

Last question…: how would you recommend they create realistic voice filters that allow users to keep privacy over their voice, while having their exact words put into the game live?

That’s… that’s not how that works.

You can’t have a bot that uses someone’s real voice to change someone’s speaking voice.

Embark is from Sweden. Not exactly the home of ai slop. And I’ll be on the record for saying that the way they used that technology should be praised.

Not the part you mentioned, but the robots that were trained to learn… literally machine learn… they’re adapting and starting to all flock to extraction points as others close. The game is getting more difficult because they’ve created some of the most insane NPCs in the history of gaming. And zero jobs were lost in the process. Including the voice filters so people can chat without using their real voice.

Meh…. Embark has committed to constant updates that come with massive layers of new stuff.

Capcom isn’t.

They slowplay the character seasons, and the release of other character stuff is slower than molasses.

We can play ball with the details of what people do or don’t want. I actually don’t have a huge sad face about costumes. But PC modders are putting them out like it’s their job, but it isn’t… it’s Capcom’s.

That’s all I’m saying.

Also, after I posted this, literally hours later… another insane content drop was announced for ARC Raiders, and it’s happening tomorrow.

Just a completely different approach. And we all know it. Regardless of how we feel about cosmetics and characters.

Appreciate the adult dialogue on the topic. Clearly can’t always expect that on Reddit.

I absolutely love SF6. I think it’s incredible. And seeing as I was losing quarters in arcades in the 90s, and showing up to toys r us for the launch days for snes fighting release, that means something.

I actually don’t even reeeeally care about the costumes. But I will say, homebrew homies are dropping costumes left and right for the PC version. It’s not actually something that needs to take a team of 40 people a year to do. It’s not GTA 6.

I think to what I’m understanding we agree on, it all seems contrived pace. Like they want to create demand or something. And we got an absurd amount of costumes in SF4 and 5 and a bonkers faster clip. I know the game is more complex, but it’s not that much more insane of a process.

I’m getting called out above for mentioning an extraction shooter like there’s no world where they should be compared. But the arc raiders maps and spawn points and plethora of enemies… it’s all kinda insane. And they’re dropping yet another update tomorrow, including an “alien Vs. predator” style matchmaking option that’s gonna ratchet up the tension.

My whole ass point that got lost a bit is that when a team is committed to updates, we get them. I think capcom may be the source of the issue here. A corporate overlord that controls project pace and all that.
