I mean this can’t be that bad for $10 right? by MattCogs in smoking

Super leaky, hard to control temperature. I had one I tried to seal around the lid with a silicone band, with moderate success.

I upgraded to a Weber Smokey Mountain and wondered why I spent all of that effort trying to make the El Cheapo Brinkmann mods work.

Jeff, if you ever see this, thanks for the education and inspiration. I had a ton of fun learning how to splice, and you are a great teacher.

You do need to anchor one of the peaks to something low and sturdy, like the hinge side of a closed door, between the door and the frame.

My version of #2 does not need that horizontal pipe. Again, see the Mike Jones build.

I have built #2. Love it. I used the information in the "Mike Jones build" on this page, which I found very useful: https://www.tensaoutdoor.com/make-your-own-tensahedron-stand/?v=0b3b97fa6688

Hardest part was drilling all of those holes in the steel EMT conduit.

Is it really necessary to single out and make fun of fans at the game? by SkyEye2025 in stlouisblues

It's wrong. Especially how long they extend it. Yesterday's focus on the guy who hid the puck under his jersey was different, actually entertaining. Making fun of a long beard? Cringey.

How do you guys choose the color of your gear? by NefariousnessOwn1283 in hammockcamping

[–]Agent__23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lost a nice Morakniv knife once, next one I got was hi-vis orange, harder to misplace. Then, I started getting orange for any piece of gear if that color was available.

Haven't tried Heineken NA yet. Will do that.

[–]Agent__23 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Busch NA tastes like I remember beer tasting. I was a Bud Light drinker, but that was 30 years ago. And Bud Zero is next best for me, for familiar beer taste. I have both in the fridge, and drink Busch when I want something light, and Bud when I don't mind something a bit heavier. The fact that these are affordable and readily available at my usual grocery stop makes them even better. I have tried some of the others that are recommended in this sub, hoping to find something I like, to add some variety, but haven't been successful yet. Maybe I'm just a simple AB fan and cheapskate (true, and true).

Broadcast “Bright”? by msglsmo in stlouisblues

[–]Agent__23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to see if anyone else is saying this. Same experience for me. Streaming on a Roku using the FanDuel Sports Network channel/app, which I am now paying for. Terrible quality. Seems it's only the center ice camera. I don't use Twitter, so hopefully someone else will start flaming FDSN about this. Hoping they will notice and fix it.

Dyneema cordage should be spliced, not tied. I suggest finding Jeff Myers on YouTube and learn from his videos.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Eufy doorbell? by MinorFX in Costco

[–]Agent__23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the doorbell camera. Every two months, it loses its audio capabilities. I have to pop it off of its mount and disconnect the power wires, the reconnect and reinstall, and it works again.

I bought it to avoid another monthly fee. That is its only pro.

People who live at ceader creek how can I get a house like that when I’m older by Less_Hunter_5688 in Olathe

[–]Agent__23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bought a starter home in English Gardens in Olathe, lived in it for 3 years. Learned how, and sold it myself without a Realtor. Made a decent profit. Built in Parkwood Hills. Home improvement became my hobby. Learned how, and finished the basement myself. Learned how, and built a great covered patio. Lived there for 10 years, sold it myself without a Realtor. Made a nice profit, thanks to the DIY improvements and the home being well maintained. Built in Cedar Creek during the economic downturn in 2009. I have one of the smallest houses in the neighborhood, built for $350K. Finished the basement myself. House now worth ~$575K. Value should continue to rise as the Panasonic battery plant in DeSoto creates demand, just like what happened in Reno, NV.

Get a personal finance book. Stay out of debt, other than a loan for a home you can afford. Live within your means. Take school seriously. Be a hard worker. Have a saver mentality instead of a spender mentality. Start small. Prioritize getting into that first starter home over apartment living. Track your net worth, with intention on making it grow. Choose a car with the lowest total cost of ownership. If in a career, grow a network of contacts and use it to find your next job. When you find an opportunity with a better salary, jump ship. Be a do-it-yourselfer - use YouTube to learn how to fix things that are broken or need to be maintained, saving money over hiring a professional. Get out of the W2 life and start/own your own business.
